Michael, It was once understood among scholars that the world was flat. To which they said at that time that any other definition of the world that didn't say that, meant there had to be something wrong with it. Its not that there was any…

@ Macka - I know and I happily acknowledge that John's model and the techniques he offers his clients and fellow hypnotists can be and are very effective. That is not what is being discussed.  I am saying that NO model totally captures the…

Since the topic of whether or not a subject FEELS hypnotized has come up, I'm wondering how many folks here have actually BEEN hypnotized. To me, having been on the other end multiple times, I have a very clear idea of what--at least for…

Its not whether they know they were hypnotized that is important, but rather helping them get where they want to go quickly, easily and with more pleasure that is important. Hypnosis is called many things, but really it is many things. I think of it…

To my experience, almost uniformly, the subject have said they feel "kind of floaty a little bit" when they are in trance. Other than that, nada.   John

Tears

Do other folks do phone sessions? I've found they work pretty well.

Today's client was surprised. First, he was surprised because he thought he knew how to relax...and this took him to so much deeper a state of relaxation. And second: "I'm just a little embarrassed about this...but I seem to be crying." He choked up. "I don't think I realized how stressed I was."

I continue to be stunned by how powerful hypnosis can be.

Lupus client today

Posted on February 16, 2009 at 8:27am 2 Comments

Today I had one of my first "clients" - I am seeing a few people for free to build up my experience/build relationships etc.

Today's hypnotherapy client, a lupus patient, was *overwhelmingly* positive about the entire experience and clearly was experiencing the benefit right away.

She didn't understand why I would be positioning this as something people only need to do 1-3 times...she could see people wanting to come back repeatedly - for the relaxation (which really is… Continue

Awe

Yesterday I was sitting on the sidelines while my daughter was swimming at the Boys and Girls Club, when a woman who looked familiar-ish came up to me. Turns out I had met her at a party over the summer thrown by friends of mine who had invited some kindergarten families.

Nice woman; she and her family have lived in my town about a year.

This kind of thing happens all the time to me where I live - its one of the things I like about my town- the sense of community that… Continue

Getting ready

"Never allow a crisis to go to waste. They are opportunities to do big things.”

This is a quote from Rahm Emmanuel, President -Elect Obama's newly appointed Chief of Staff. Its just the sentiment this new administration needs, in my opinion.

Personally, it may also be just the sentiment I need. I work in an industry - public relations- that is traditionally one of the first hit by a bad economy, and its showing. Other companies in the same space have already had layoffs;… Continue
