Elizabeth Rose Dye replied to terri b's discussion stormy times of crisiswhen the induction says things like: you may find your eyes getting heavy, so heavy that if you tried to open them they just wouldnt work. once you are sure you have done that, relaxed them so much they wont work....
the brain is running amok with this!!! my eyes are heavy, will they work? am i sure they wont work? have i tested them? should i test them? i know they CAN open because i can still feel them and i still feel connected them to them so i'm sure i can send the command to open them, should i do that now? when s/he says they wouldnt work is that a signal to try? when they say stop trying, when was i supposed to try? do i try now even though its past the cue?
in my experience, the most effective answer to the analytical brain is SIMPLICITY. the more words, the more there is think about. the two most effective things i've felt are "SLEEP" and another time when the lids were open but the mind was gone because they had embedded 'sleep' into about three sentences, was "you can go to SLEEP now". very very simple ways to convey where i am to go. its a lot like talking to a child really. less words, less interpretation, less questions, MORE RESULTS
