Another First for Me

Okay, I know this is old hat for folks who do stage hypnosis, but I'm still getting my sea legs in the area of fun hypnotic phenomena.

On Saturday, I was set up at the local farmers market offering free hypnosis samples--it's my way of advertising for nothing but time invested--and I had a volunteer who was a natural somnambulist. During trance, she remembered every detail of her sixth birthday, forgot the number six (and kept counting up eleven fingers), then forgot her own name… Continue

Grief and Loss and the use of hypnosis

Sarah came into my office. Her eyes were red and swollen. She had been crying. Sarah had lost her husband of 25 years in an automobile accident. "I feel so horrible, she said. "Why did I have to fight with him on the day he was killed."

Bill was about to get married and his soon to be wife left him at the alter. They had been together for 5 years. They did everything together and Bill was looking forward to his future with his wife and some children. He assumed he would never be… Continue

It's Time To Upgrade Our Professional Semantics

It's Time To Upgrade Our Professional Semantics

by

Gerald Kein

It is time to upgrade our professional vocabulary. Many of the words we use with clients cause us to practice what I call "Shoot Yourself In The Foot Hypnosis." The vocabulary of the 40's, 50's and 60's desperately need revision and updating. We have been trained to use words that could cause our clients to have unsuccessful sessions. In a broader sense, some of the words historically attached to our… Continue

Hypnosis Declaration of Independence

Gerald Kein

The Declaration of Independence Of The Hypnotists Of America

In Assembly, July 4, 2003

A declaration of the professional hypnotists in these United States of America.

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one group of therapists to dissolve the generally perceived bands that have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of earth,… Continue

Awaken to your Dreams...A Source of Inner Guidance

Do you ever a wake from a dream and can't quite remember exactly where you were, or the details involved... but some time during the day an image or a feeling gently flows-forth, or something you see or something some one says triggers your memory? And suddenly you recall the scene as real as the world in front of you.

It's been said Dreams are windows to worlds beyond the ordinary. In looking at ancient holy scriptures from all faiths the visions and profound mystical experiences of… Continue

Smoking Cessation

Thanks to my outstanding Ht (and me), I quit smoking after 50 years of a pack and a half a day. So, I really understand this Story Of the Day by Brian Andreas -

She went everywhere with a basket filled daily with a fresh blueberry muffin. It's either that or cigarettes, she said. I am only strong enough for a life of partial virtue.

Brian David Phillips On the hypnosis board of one of the magic forums I belong to, a question was asked of the members of whether or not one can do waking hypnosis with someone who doesn't know you're a hypnotist. My first response to that sort of question is to determine what sort of effect one was after and what the context was. So often, folks ask those sorts of…

Tarot Reading, Enrique Enriquez Style

I love Tarot, as any regular reader of Life of Brian knows . . . I collect them, I read for introspective purposes, I read professionally, I own and moderate a very well-respected email list, I design cards, layouts, and reading systems, and I teach Tarot. There are a few folks in the world of Tarot whose work is resonate with my own approach . . . Enrique Enriquez is one of those folks. While my…
