In a thread here discussing past life regression, Michael Ellner stated that he believes we experience many lives contained in one (childhood, 20's, 30's etc.). I do agree, as I have often looked back and even stated, "That was in my former life!" when referring to a certain stage of my life.

I am also interested in the theory of 7 year life cycles. Here is a simple explanation of the theory. Look and see if any of it rings true for yourself...http://www.innerself.com/Channelings/Cycles_of_Seven.htm

I notice that many of my clients are between the ages of thirty and forty. Here is what is said about the 5th 7-year cycle:

"The thirty-fifth year is the cutting of the emotional umbilical cord and true emotional adulthood arrives. Here one stands alone, able to withstand being influenced by the emotional attitudes of others. It is the opportunity to become free of the emotional stigma of the past and is a major change position in the seven-year cycles.

At thirty-five comes a solidity factor that gives you the opportunity to say, "Wait a minute. If I am going to do that, whom do I have to listen to?" If you are cutting and severing the influences of the past, you are probably, for the first time, deciding for yourself what you want to do. It is a freedom factor. Understand that when we talk about the cycles of growth, we are not saying that at the age of thirty-five you cut off everybody you know and hate your parents. We are saying you finally separate those concepts which are really yours from those which belong to somebody else."

Wonder what I'll be doing in my 15th cycle of 7?!

Similar things can be said about the "nine year" cycles of Numerology, based on birth year data. Each year in the nine year cycle stands for a different quality, so periodically a particular "year" may coincide with the seven year ending/beginning cycle, and then there is an added "punch" to whatever is happening at those times. At some point, when working with clients, I generally run at least a rudimentary Numerology chart to get a better idea of which cycles they may be in, or heading towards, and where knowing this can also help with creating the changes, or giving the relief, they desire.

As to whether or not these can be described as different or "former" lives, I think it is more a matter of perception and, in cases where greater changes have been made, recognized growth. I use the metaphor of a butterfly extensively in my own practice - but instead of just the stages of caterpillar to cocoon to butterfly - we tend to repeat these at higher octaves (reflecting the seven year cycles). So from birth to seven, we learn to crawl; from eight to fourteen, we tend to withdraw into our own little worlds, and from fifteen to twenty-one, we are emerging into the first phase of our push for freedom. From 22 to 28 we are generally learning the lessons of survival out in the "real" world, and from 29 thru 35, we consolidate our positions (cocooning again); thence from 36 thru 42 emerging as the more powerful butterfly - able to take bigger chances and endure longer periods of flight. Forty-three thru 49 see's us beginning to focus on the next 21 year cycle leading toward what many hope will be a comfortable retirement, so the energies are again cycled toward that completion at age 63. It is at that age that many will make the decision as to whether or not they can afford to retire in a few years, or even if they really want to do that, even if they can afford to do so - and if not, they may take on more learning, more growth related activities leading to generally more healthy and involved lives into their 80's.

As coaches and hypnotists, especially with the large "Baby Boomers" segment heading into that 44 to 63 age bracket (and even beyond), proper marketing of our services to that age segment will benefit both clients and practitioners immensely.

Ever since I can remember, I've separated different phases of my life into lifetimes or even identities. Of course I know that I am all the people I have ever been and they all make up who I am now, and who I am now is the stepping off point for whom I will grow to be, but I can never truly feel what it was like to have been any of the former I's that I have been.
