I am seeking suggestions for inductions and hypnosis techniques used with children. Specifically what inductions are best for getting them into trance?

Hey Amelia,
I just saw your request for an induction with children. I've found, that when I play "Games" with kids, it's a very easy sesion.
I always interview the parents pre my session, usually over the phone to get to the ISE of what has causes what the child is here for.
After that, I have the child at my office, we play on the floor, I use alot of my own childrens toys,,, I have the child pick a book and read it if they are old enought,,,
For an induction,,,,, I offer the child a safety "Tent" that I have set up in my office, or they can lie on my couch,,, or in my hypno chair with a blanket over them,,, so they are safe... Also,, in my initial meeting, I create alot of "We're going to have Fun today" rapore,,,
For an induction, I have both of us breath together,, take the breathing down to a very relaxed level,, we shut our eyes and we "Imagine and Pretend" and we see different, bette outcomes for what we are here for,, The Secret works well for kids,,
"Ask yourelf what it is that you want,,, that mommy or daddy wants, or the teacher, the coach blah, blah,, and tell me how it goes when ":You,, or they, or mom" receives this"
Usually the child talks away about how good it feels,, I do this a few times with different people and than we "Bank" this great feeling...
Futue Pacing is great with kids, very motivating,, for them,,, they react quickly,, stay at the high, happy vibration... I reallly enjoy working with kids,, very gratifying....
I have my website up.
hypnotherapyforhealthandhappiness.com,, still have a ton of stuff to add,, but it's up!!!!
Thank you Brian and Seth for your help and references. I will check out those websites and books as well as take your advice, very helpful. Thank you again.
What age? Pretty much anything works for small kids . . . just engage their imagination and go for it. The "television set" induction works fine as does the "big toe" one (from Terrence Watts - used to be on his hypnosense webpage but I don't know if he still keeps it there, it is in his Rapid Cognitive Therapy book with Georges Philips which is a good read anyway). There is a dreamcatcher example somewhere. Find out what tv show they like and have 'em close their eyes and imagine watching the a collection of their favorite shows with them in it. The longer standard inductions are not as good with kids do to the fidgit factor so speak to their level. For my daughter when she was small, I would have her close her eyes, relax, and imagine riding on the back of a beautiful flying dragon . . . she would also go to a magickaly forest with a menagerie. Many kids will open their eyes, that's okay. There are a couple old kids pieces on my webpage and at the hypnosis technique exchange you can check.
You almost don't really need an "induction" with kids. Just asking them to close their eyes and and imagine works. With that said ...I love the idea of magic and so do kids. Dell Morel?? who comes out of the state of Washington has great scripts in a book in dealing with children. Someone in this group I am sure has the correct spelling of her last name and how to get in contact with her. I meant her at a Solid Gold convention 8 years ago. A very nice lady!!
Don Motton from the NGH gave a wonderful course in Pediatric Hypnosis so check out his stuff. The is also a fellow with the NGH Nicolous ????who also deals a lot with children and has a book out.
I start a session sometimes with a magic trick (go to a magic store & get something easy that looks great). It wow!'s the kids and they are ready for the rest of the magic you can teach them. I keep a wand in my office. A lot of kids love Harry Potter and stuff like that. I also utilize if they have a favorite super hero, to imagine that super hero helping them with various situations that they are coming to you for.
Play with their imagination is the best advice. They truly don't need a "induction", they go in and out of hypnosis so much faster than us adults.
