Dual professions, one goal – helping you to achieve the way you want to be!

Some might question the connection of being a professional portrait photographer and being a hypnotherapist, but the answer is really quite simple. As a portrait photographer and as a hypnotherapist, you pay close attention to your subject. The way we think and the way we feel reflect in our expression, posture, and energy. This is the mind body connection. If what we are seeing or experiencing on the physical level is different than our inner desired level, the way we want our physical picture to look, we can begin to change the inner picture through guided imagery, remembered successes, times of joy and happiness. As we allow ourselves to experience these either real or vividly imagined pictures, feelings or memories on the sub conscious level, our body naturally reflexes these thoughts on the conscious level, reflecting in turn in our physical appearance. In hypnotherapy, we call this an ideomotor response which represents our natural everyday connection between our minds and our bodies.

As a hypnotherapist and a portrait photographer, I create a picture that draws my clients to a self empowering inter personal experience of themselves or the world around them, leading them to a better understanding of that powerful mind and body connection. Once we begin to understand this connection and how we can empower ourselves, we can begin to change our lives, our beliefs, our attitudes about ourselves, the world and people around us. We have the control in knowing that we are not our mind, but our mind and thoughts are tools that we can use, tools that can be changed and directed to reach any desired outcome we intend for ourselves. We can stand witness of our mind and masterfully guide it in the direction of our goals, dreams, and desires.

An esthetically pleasing photograph is a combination of knowing ahead of time what it is that you want it to communicate, and is a combination of the elements you put in as well as what you leave out. A self empowered person knows that this is the same for what we think. By knowing what you truly want and having a clear picture of exactly what that entails, knowing exactly how it will look, feel, what it will sound like, taste like, smell like, you will know when the opportunity presents itself to you and can act upon it with certainty.

By knowing your mind, you know what thoughts and messages you need to put into the picture and which ones you need to take out. By picturing your life exactly the way you want, it will be so.

Hi Scott,

I really like the metaphor you presented-- I never thought of a photograph that way before...

I mostly thought of photos as "still life" or static - I appreciate your insight and I learned something -- Thanks
