A Writer / Editor / Consultant - Why do you need one?

Greetings fellow Hypnothoughters!

Need more clinical clients or stage gigs? Want to publish a book or get more web hits?

Success is not an accident. The image you present must be professional, and your presence must be exceptional.

A lot of people have a lot of great ideas, but they are not the best writers or marketers. That's ok, everyone has their field of expertise. If you have a leak in your plumbing, you call a plumber. If you need legal advice, you call an attorney. If you want to market and promote yourself better, you should contact someone who specializes in marketing and promotions.

Words make the difference. Whether you want to move your website up on search engine lists or catch more attention with a promotional flyer, the key to positive results is in the words you use, and where you use them. If you don't know how to do this, it is worth your while to contact an expert, a professional writer and editor.

However, be forewarned: not all those who call themselves writers are equal. Some writers write and edit for a living every day. Words are their bread and butter. Others, like college students, may dabble at proofreading now and then to pick up extra cash. And some don't charge very much comparatively, simply because their country's standard of living is lower. However, keep in mind that just because someone can speak a second language enough to pass in general conversation does not mean they can write in that language professionally, and just being a college student does not make someone a good writer or editor. Quality writing - whether for blogs or bestsellers - takes refined skill.

Also, do not be fooled: a 'proofreader' is not an editor. A proofreader makes sure your I's are dotted and T's are crossed. They check for spelling and punctuation errors. NOTE: A proofreader can (and often will) do their job without ever actually reading what you wrote. Proofreaders do not check your facts or expand your concepts, and they do not clean up messy paragraphs or rearrange sentences to improve the flow - that's what an editor does.

And keep in mind: if the hired writer/editor is not well-versed in the field being discussed, they will have a hard time knowing if what you wrote really makes sense, or not. It would be terrible to publish a blog or article or even a textbook and end up embarrassed by your peers over a simple mis-statement that the average reader wouldn't know to catch. Your field is specific - clinical hypnosis, stage hypnotism, meditational practices. It helps to have a writer/editor who is familiar with your area of work.

Furthermore, today's Internet is fluid, ever-changing. To stay on top and make your presence known requires on-going maintenance. Simply putting up a website is not enough these days, you have to update and expand your reach in order to effectively compete. You need search engine optimization (SEO), content articles, a FaceBook presence, a MySpace blog, Twitter. If you do not understand these things and how to play the online marketing game, it would be worth your while to hire an expert who does.

So should you find yourself needing the right words presented in the right place at the right time to reach the right target audience, contact a professional. The quality produced is worth it.

I hope this information is helpful. Best wishes for a successful day!
