An Informal poll, survey or general questioning ....

OK.. so In the last few days, the question was raised about the quality and quantity of training hypnotists get that are working with clients.  This person who raised the questions was sure that most hypnotists who work with clients are totally un-qualified and under trained.

I would like ALL the members here on Hypnothoughts to respond in this survey, just to get an idea of the amount of training that our members have.  I may do a more scientific and totally confidential survey on a survey site in order to get some more specific results.  Really depends on the response to this informal survey.

**Btw, Richard- you may want to add to the list how much *Live* training they have had.

Just a thought...

Oh, and my answer is still the same- I've lost track, but easily over 1000...

  • Approx. hours of training you currently have taken: Over a 1000 at this point. I've honestly lost track...

  • Number of years you have been involved in Hypnosis: 15

  • Do you see clients: Yes

  • How often do you see clients: It varies as I do a lot of traveling teaching these days, but in general between 3 and 5 times a week.

  • If you see clients, for what types of issues: In addition to life/business coaching I work mostly with fears, phobias, anxiety, stress, pain control, in addition to much more serious issues include post traumatic stress and of course the usual smoking/weight loss clients (although I only take on weight loss clients as coaching client for a minimum of 7 months)

  • Have you ever referred a client to another more qualified hypnotist: Yes. It's rare these days, but especially when starting out, I would refer to others often with issues I didn't think I was quite ready for and or thought they would be in better hands with someone else. I still do on occasion- but usually only if they are closer distance wise to someone else.

  • Have you ever referred a client to regular Allopathic forms of treatment: Of course. Especially if they are coming to me regarding a physical issue.

  • Have you ever had a client referred to you from Allopathic medicine: Yes

  • Do you participate in continuing education programs: Yes

  • About how many hours a year of continuing education do you participate in: I do a lot of teaching- and I learn just as much from my students as they do from me- but excluding that- I'd say between 25 to as many as 100 a year. If you included Hypnothoughts as continuing education (which I consider it to be), I'd say 100's of additional hours on top of that.
