the Free Hypnosis Social Network
As we begin a new year I like to look back over the 11 yrs that I have practiced hypnotherapy. It is an enlightning process to see what I have changed and what I kept along the years. My inductions routinely change, sometimes so it doesn't get boring, sometimes because I learn new methods, other times it is just better. There other key elements that I have kept because they are "ME". I am able to make my clients feel comfortable and establish a very good rapor from the beginning and that facilitates the process of the therapy and end results are always great. To me, each client is different, even if the presenting problems are the same, so I approach each client as if their case is special and deserve an entire new approach. I think this has worked well.
What have you learned from yourself?

And to Michael: Yes learning changes us and the change teaches us...it's always in a circle and in cycles.

Comment by Michael Ellner on January 9, 2011 at 5:10am My 30 year experience is kind of like what you described but in reverse -
I learn something and my learning changes me and the way that I practice and I grow...
Like you my focus is on helping clients feel safe, secure and comfortable which opens the door to helping them more effectively--
Perhaps the biggest shift over time was the movement from a "Hypnotist" Centered practice to a "Client" Centered practice...
Warm regards,
Michael E.
