"GROWING UP BRILLIANT SYNDROME"

This is for those scientifically minded "consulting hypnotists" in the hypnotist community who are concerned with credentials and since "consulting hypnotists" are not bound by or do not rely on The Diagnostic And Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, you know, the psychiatric bible for psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and licensed counselors, and especially, since we do hypnosis for conditions such as "picky eater syndrome", why not consider adding "The Growing Up Brilliant Syndrome" as illustrated in the following:

The Clay Mathematics Institute of Cambridge, Mass. has awarded the Millennium Prize of $1 million to Grigory Perelman, a 43 year old unemployed bachelor who lives with his elderly mother in Russia, for solving a problem that has stumped mathematicians for a century and for what is described as "a truly amazing piece of mathematics"

Notably, this is the same man who was also awarded the prize which is known as the Nobel Prize of Mathematics...the Felds Medal in 2006. And not surprisingly Mr. Perelman previously worked at the Steklov Mathematics Instititute in Russia.

Mr. Perelman was honored for proving the Poincare conjecture, which deals with shapes that exist in four or more dimensions rather than the familiar three dimensions and proposes a test for determining whether a shape in such space, no matter how distorted, is a three dimensional sphere. And, Mathematicians will gather in Paris in June to celebrate Perelman's achievement with a ceremony of some sort.

But, importantly for "consulting hypnotists" is the fact that Mr. Perelman apparently has one of those normal problems of living that the NGH is allowing hypnotists to work with.....he has a history of refusing prizes for his achievements and it is unclear whether or not he will be there to accept his prize.

Psychologist Dean Simonton, from the University of California has reported that Mr. Perelman may be "aggressively nonconformist" and another psychologist from Minneapolis, Thomas Greenspon, has speculated that Mr. Perelman may be reacting to growing up brilliant and hence feeling bad about himself to the point of not wanting to be in the spotlight etc.

Notably, several groups in Russia, including the St. Petersburg Communist Party, have made public appeal for the cash if he doesn't want it himself. So maybe hypnothoughts should contact him and make an appeal as well!

Links are as follows:

For Perelman's papers:
http://arxiv.org/abs/math.DG/0211159
http://arxiv.org/abs/math.DG/0303109
http://arxiv.org/abs/math.DG0307245

So there now, now you can see why you should add the "Growing Up Brilliant Syndrome" to your list of services....especially since it is a normal problem of living and well within the scope of approved practice for a NGH approved "consulting hypnotist"!

Doesn't that make you feel better!!!!!....See you in Paris in June! LOL

Perhaps this man just does not seek the limelight and regards his "talent" or achievements as "normal". Why do we have to speculate that such people have a deficency? There seems to be a prevalence, especially in the USA, to think that anyone who does not seek to gain honours or money from their brilliance is somehow flawed. Perhaps beacuse we in the West regard eccenrticity as fairly normal we don't regard people like this as odd. Please don't create menatl problems where there are none.

Recipients over the years have professed various reasons for deigning acceptance of their prizes, but this will be a first. I'm doing as you suggest and offering my services to those who suffer from "GUBS"... hee hee
