the Free Hypnosis Social Network
One of my clients asked if I did twitter or other social networking stuff (that I just haven't gotten into yet) so that I could send out little tips and helpful reminders to help her lose weight. Well, I looked up some smart phone apps and downloaded one to try before recommending it to her. I have it set up to send me little useful reminders during the day.
These can be a wonderful source of ideas for your sessions. One little quote that the app sent out to me was "there is no elevator to success, you have to take the stairs". I loved it, texted it to her and then used it as imagery during another clients session.
Long story short... smart phone apps can be wonderful resources for us and our clients.
Anyone else have wonderful little tips that we might benefit from...
Keep checking back for other useful little tips by me and anyone who wants to add.

Comment by Adrian G Madril on May 7, 2013 at 4:55am One way to get recognized and appreciated within your community is be active in your community. This can be done without promoting your business 24/7. Let people get to know you for who you are when your and their guards are down. Show active participation in ways that support your community. Volunteer work for a non-profit organization could put you in contact with those referral sources when they are not at work and you are not at work. This builds rapport by giving you something in common.
Comment by Adrian G Madril on May 5, 2013 at 5:49pm I talked with a veterinarian the other day and she told me about information that she received in a class for opening a business. The class info said to keep a collection of information on hand to give to a reporter. More a less a series of quotes from her or an association that she is associated with that helps keep from her being misquoted. I thought this was a good idea to share.
Comment by Adrian G Madril on May 2, 2013 at 3:15pm So I was encouraged to give an interview for the local paper. The interview went rather well. The newspaper put me on the bottom half of the front page. Shortly after the article came out my phone started ringing off the hook. I did not request to read the article before printing, which I probably should have. From the "average Joe" perspective, everyone loved the article. One of my phone calls someone asked for Dr. Madril. I replied, "That is my wife may I take a message?" The person on the other end was looking for the person who does hypnosis. I quickly picked up a copy and when I read it all I could think was "oh... I would have worded that differently." I don't blame the reported, sometimes we are unfamiliar with the importance of words and looking to make a great article used certain words when he paraphrased me that I would have avoided (and I'm pretty sure I did). My only concern is the potential response from the medical community as my wife has already commented on it.
Lesson: Be very careful with wording when talking to reporters. Clarify their language and inform them on the importance of words. Ask politely if you can review their article before sending it on, so that you can help them provide the most accurate article for their readers.
Comment by Adrian G Madril on April 18, 2013 at 4:49am Here's a little tip for those who want to work with law enforcement officers... "Emotional Survival for Law Enforcement" by Dr. Kevin Gilmartin has wonderful insight into the stresses associated with "the job". Although it is not a hypnosis book, I think it is an easy read that will give you so much information to help tailor your hypnosis for such clients. This is an area I plan to support in the near future.
My opinion on this book is based on my experiences in law enforcement as well as the opinions of other officers that I know. Hope this helps.
Comment by Adrian G Madril on April 15, 2013 at 7:54pm A little tip that I learned from a well respected hypnotist... if you are in a session and you need to get up to use the restroom, get a drink, or just collect your thoughts... just say to your client while they are in trance "this next part works better if I leave the room" and I added "so even the sound of the pocket door sliding takes you deeper and deeper"... then send them on their 5 minutes to themselves to search their subconscious for the answer they are looking for or to spend it of pleasant thoughts. It works like a charm, and sometimes in the times when we are not talking is when our clients have breakthroughs.

I saw this quote at the hospital gift shop while waiting for a meeting to talk about Hypnobirthing. How ironic, but it goes to show that we can always take advantage of a given situation to learn a little helpful tip. We just have to keep our eyes open for it. I use this saying now with serveral of my clients including childbirth clients.
Comment by Adrian G Madril on February 15, 2013 at 12:15pm For those that are following along, the next wonderful tip is to check out Kelley Woods discussion on "Scared is Scared". There is the cutest little video there that is absolutely amazing. I watched it before my last client and it was exactly what she needed.
Comment by Adrian G Madril on February 11, 2013 at 9:31am Okay, another place to find inspiration...
Fortune Cookies!!!! okay, so most of them are pretty lame, atleast most of the ones that I get, but my wife got this one the other day... Everything has beauty, but not everyone sees it. I immediately started to think about all the applications of this. Clients with self-esteem issues, clients living in someone else's shadow, self-doubting, lack of self-worth issues.... imagery of people walking by a beautiful flower everyday and not noticing it, but that doesn't mean the flower is any less beautiful. Or reframing or perception work to see the beauty or worth in the person that we cannot stand.
Okay, so maybe I should have thought this out more clearly vs rambling on in my blog, but hopefully you see that there can be beauty in a fortune cookie fortune, if we choose to see it.

Great! I was slept-out so I got up and found this reply. I will sign up for the daily inspirations AT NO COST. (I once had a manager who would say "if it's free, it's for me!")
The thought for the day is perfect for my client tomorrow afternoon. Oops later today already.
