So two or three weeks ago, I start noticing something weird going on with my body and suspect a hernia. General practitioner couldn't confirm or deny and told me to watch it over a couple weeks and go to a hernia repair specialist if it continued or got worse.
The hernia repair specialist confirms it's a hernia and I have a surgery scheduled for the 16th of November.
Now I need to start putting all the medical hypnosis stuff I've learned from Seth-Deborah Roth into practice. I want to make a (or use someone else's) recording for while I'm under to promote healing, no complications, etc., and then use a good post-op recovery recording as well.
I'll also have a couple weeks off of the day job because of this and am pondering trying to get some Skype clients lined up during my recuperation.

Celeste, on a different (and very much belated) note altogether, I miss your podcasts with Cal Banyan. You brought a lot of wacky energy to the show. ;)

Comment by Stephanie Voss on November 2, 2011 at 11:22pm A ready-made, excellent recording that has worked well for the friends to whom I have given it is Judith Simon's Prager's "Guided Imagery for Surgery" at judithprager.com. There's a pre, during and post surgical recording.
Talk to your anesthesiologist beforehand, so s/he'll know you might not need as much anesthesia and also to make sure your headphones and player are acceptable to go into the OR with you - volume can be stabilized and everything is clean and/or wrapped.
You'll find yourself relaxed for the procedure and healing much more quickly than average.
Enjoy!

(no incentive/connection other than having met Judith at an ACHE seminar briefly and having enjoyed her Verbal First Aid seminar. I just recommend her CD because it's good.)
