Hi Taylor, I so agree with you here. I think if we can get into 'the zone' as they say, and overcome our negativity then we can do anything. It's all state of mind.
I started running about 5 years ago. I used to hate running. Gave me a stitch every time. Detested it for several months until I got past my own blocks. A bit like your eye of the tiger, I just used it as a meditative time to get me in the right frame of mind for the day - always running first thing in the morning.
I didn't do self hypnosis as such. But my 30 year long buddhist practice, the philosophy of which states that what I focus on I can create, offers me my challenges in life and helps me focus on where I want to be.
Best wishes

Yes, you can tremendously enhance your ability by the way you think about what you are doing.

When I used to train for martial arts, I would play "Eye of the Tiger" in my head and crank up the volume. I stepped into a state of total certainty that I would win, and that lesson is something I've never forgotten.

Many people like to take the approach of just direct suggestion, and although that can help, I think releasing blocks to top performance (whether through regression or other means) can be very helpful.

With the push-ups you could just play with the speed of the movie / time it takes. See yourself (all the way through in third person then all the way through in first position and add in kinesthetic) doing maybe 100 in a minute.

As far as running, work on your stride length and how you are breathing. Move your arms. Also get someone to hypnotize you and bring you into a mental state of intense focus. I don't think a standard self-hypnosis state will work for this. It's a clarity of mind while you are being intensely physically active. It's a flow state -- putting all of your attention on what you are doing and being very in the moment because of it.

What most people do is that they work hard but they think reflexively about how hard it is, and how they could maybe go more or better...

Pro runners go into a flow state where the slightest tweaks produce much better results. And they are having fun while doing it. It's fun to increase performance in a flow state.

I'd be thinking so, I had to stack shelves above shoulder height some months ago, and as I found my arms weakening and fatigueing horribly, I used EFT and was able to continue on without that fatigue and weakness to complete the job.

Thanks, James! I downloaded your e-book. I'll let you know how my golf game goes once the rain lets up!

Physical manifestation is exclusively determined by mental causation. As thoughts are created, a corresponding reality follows. It is the feeling in between those realms that is the catalyst. Use your free will wisely and happy times are yours. Set positive intentions and garnish that trophy case called self esteem.

Belief is a very strong element in sports performance. That's why at one time everyone thought it was impossible to run a 4 minute mile. Once one person did it and showed that it was possible, loads of runners soon followed. I regularly go to the gym and lift weights, and it definitely makes a big difference if I believe I can lift a weight for a certain number of repititions.

This is how I like to look at it - Our body has limits, but our potential is much higher than we realise. Removing negative self beliefs and replacing them with positive ones helps us to get closer to our true potential. I try this every time I work out. Hypnosis can help you be more positive and believe in yourself.

Hypnosis cannot in itself make you fitter, but it can enhance your training, which will lead to you becoming fitter.

Christopher, although hypnosis cannot be a substitute for hard effort in training, it can certainly supplement it via positive imagery and self-talk. A strong mental attitude encourages persistence which is a key to success in any pursuit. I have a free e-book entitled Unleash Your Inner Winner which you can download at my web site. Good luck to you! Jim
