Does anyone know if one on one sessions can be paid for with health insurance?

Thanks in advance...

Best Regards

Everyone has different coverage. Even within one company the CEO may have different benefits as compared to the average worker in the same company. You would have to check the benefits. There are Health Savings Accounts which might pay for added things such as massage or hypnotherapy. Again, the client has to check.

Here are some rules....

ONLY a Medicare provider can bill Medicare. It is a complicated process to apply to be a Medicare Provider. If you give someone a receipt and you are not a Medicare provider and tell them to bill Medicare to get reimbursed, they will not be able to be reimbursed. To let them think they will be reimbursed is misdirecting them.

The ONLY CPT code for hypnosis is 90880. As a non-licensed hypnotist you can bill using this code (you can fill out a 1500 form available on-line) to see if you will paid or or client can submit your paid receipt to see if they will get reimbursed

Some people also have an HSA plan for insurance, and they may be able to use these pre-tax dollars to cover sessions, too. Your client will need to research his own plan though.

It depends on all sorts of things, but potentially, yes.

some of the factors off the top of my head are:

the client's insurance plan
the issue being addressed
if there was a recommendation for hypnotherapy from a doctor
the way the hypno bills the client
etc.

We have a great presenter addressing this along with workers compensation claims at the HypnoSummit in a few weeks. If you want to know more, that would be a great place to start.

Thanks,
Scott
