Pain control and accelerating physical healing are of particular interest to me as I recently broke my wrist. Everyone asks me how I did it. My
brother suggested that I say that I was saving a baby from under a bus.
Which is certainly more exciting and heroic than falling over backward
in my living room. Let's go with his version.
It's been an interesting saga. The night I fell my neighbor drove me to the emergency room. As we waited, and talked, and waited... and waited, I
had a recurring thought in the back of my mind. "As soon as my wrist is
immobilized it will feel fine." That thought ran through my mind for 4
1/2 hours as I waited to be seen. At the time I wasn't thinking about
programming myself. I realize now, however, that I did program myself
and quite effectively. As soon as my arm was in the splint my wrist felt
fine. As long as I pay attention to what it needs it continues to feel
good. I have had a few twinges of discomfort if I forget and do
something that broken wrists don't care for. I take that as a reminder
to let my wrist rest while it heals.
And, of course, it is healing very nicely. After all, our bodies are designed to heal themselves. And to accelerate that process I have been
using a simple visualization during my daily time in self hypnosis. For
about 30 days I imagined applying a bit of bone glue to the breaks. But
one day there was no room for glue and I heard the word, "sealed." My
infinitely wise mind knows I have used a sufficient amount of bone glue
to facilitate healing. I am still using mental "bone strengthener" and
"muscle rejuvenator" as well as a daily dose of Reiki.
I had a flash of insight about the reason I fell. I had been affirming lately that my life was out of balance. I now affirm that my life is well balanced! When I broke my leg my favorite expression was "give me a break." I no
longer ask life to give me a break or state that anything about my life
is out of balance. Our words have great power... use them wisely.

I like your thoughts, Katherine! I use a similar process to aid and speed healing: I think about how my body knows to heal a simple cut or scrape and then duplicate that, directing it to the injury site.
Hope your wrist recovers quickly!
