Dear fellow H.T. members, I just received the following email message in my "junk mail" folder (can you imagine, I ALMOST deleted it by mistake!), and wanted to share the happy news with you all...!
After the check clears, I might even be so generous as to buy each and every one of you a brand new Lexus!
Oh, happy days!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well Saul, I suppose these things happen.

I had all these plans to get on TV too. Was in talks with some executive producers for my upcoming new series "Pimp my Pony Cart".

I'll let em know they will have to put the project on hold. It's ok-we were having trouble finding an Amish host for it. Seems they have some kind of religious problem with TV. Who knew?

Hey Lisa,

I'm afraid you waited too long, and I already spent it all....!

That check for $20,000,000 finally arrived the day after my last post (Feb. 16, 2010) and, after settling my debts with various credit card companies and loan agencies (which had grown to $19,000,027 with accrued interest), I had slightly less than $1,000,000 left-  which I then lost that all in a single game of high stakes poker in Vegas!

I will definitely keep your admirably modest request in mind the next time I get such a windfall though!

Cheers,

Saul

Hey Saul,

That's really very generous of you. Instead of a Lexus could you make mine a pony cart? Gas prices are outragious and I can use the pony by-products in my garden.

thanks! and gentle day,

Lisa

Cheryl,

I'M STILL waiting for the check!!!!
(and starting to become a tad concerned that this...might...not be "on the level"!)

Kelley,

Oddly enough, Mr. Grey actually sold your '69 Chevy last year on the DUTCH version of "Craig's List" for $100,000! His advert stated that it originally belonged to Barack Obama and that his two daughters were conceived in the back seat! If only YOU had been savvy enough to have added that amazing provenance to YOUR advert then you could have made a fortune!
Better luck next time!

Cheryl,

I think the easiest solution would be for Kelley to mail you HER "souvenir" check from Hollis Grey, and I will then reimburse her when MY check from him finally arrives.
I don't understand why it's taking him so long to reply- I mailed him my check for $9500 to cover the estate tax several days ago already...: - (

Ian,

I'll check out that ScamBaiting site later today- sounds like it might provide hours of entertainment!!

Wow, Saul, that's strange...a Hollis Grey in the Netherlands bought my '69 Chevy Stepside last year! I was advertising it for sale on Craigslist, asking only $5000, and he sent me a cashier's check for $8500 (I had to wire him $2500 to pay for the shipping costs) so I actually made an EXTRA $1000 on the deal! Knowing that he is handling the estate of a multi-millionaire explains his generosity. I still have his check as a souvenir as the bank was happy to return it to me!

I can't wait to get my Lexus! Or, you can just mail me a check for the cheapest Lexus on the market... I'd be happy with that too!! ;)

Jon,

What fabulous news!! Isn't 500,000 British pounds something like $50,000,000...?!?

You've burst my bubble Saul, and I spent most of the day really depressed because of it. However I have just received a small piece of good news. I have won 500,000 British pounds from the kind chaps at the 'philanthropic wing' of Google. Whilst it's a far cry from 30 million dollars, it has brightened up my day a little. They have asked for quite a bit more information, and presumably they will request more once I have sent this off. They also simply start the mail with 'congratulations' - the most fitting way to begin an email awarding such an award. Here is the email to prove I'm a winner this time...
