I would like to be hypnotized, but thus far have been unable to enter the trancelike state normally associated with hypnosis. I was part of a group hypnosis, but was among those who remained entirely unaffected. I have also tried hypnosis through audio and video files - nonpersonalized, of course - online, to no avail. I actually did manage self-hypnosis once, but only once, and only to immobilize my arms.

Is it impossible for me to do better, or have I just not managed to find what works?

Sadly, I haven't the coin to go to a professional, nor the inclination to spend money for something I'm not sure will work. The only free online hypnosis I've found online are the aforementioned audio and video files. Surely there is someone who can help me?

Justin,
If you have never been hypnotized, how do you know you haven't experienced a trance-like state? Many people have been hypnotized who never realized that "that's what it felt like".

If you haven't the money for a professional or the inclination (sadly?) to spend money for something that you're not sure will work, what makes you think you will find a professional that is inclined to help you for free? What is the motivation for them to help you achieve what you want?

I will give you a hint about being hypnotized. You cannot make it happen and you cannot help the process in any way. Trance effects are automatic reactions. The very effort that you expend in attempting to help or make it happen is what is shooting you in the foot as far as success goes.

The reason you were able to achieve what you did with self-hypnosis that one time was because you only looked for the result of what you suggested, instead of trying to make it happen.

Hi Justin.

I guess it depends on how much you want to experience it.

What have you spent money on, despite it not being guaranteed to have the desired effect? Been to a football match where your team played rubbish? Been to a crap gig? Bought something that turned out to be not what you were after? Meal that wasn't so good?... I'm sure there's something. Surely, it's worth one go?

There's a lot of negativity in your language... optimism helps!
