In this Entire Forum there are but 3...

types/classes/groups/categories of people and they are:

1)Those who are here to “buy” something(s)
2)Those here to “sell” something(s)
3)Those here both to “buy” and “sell” something(s)

Now, I find those in 1) the easiest to deal with as their minds are open. I find those in 2) rather challenging to deal with. And I find those in 3) to be most delightful as they are both giving and taking in here which I view as being the opposite sides of the same stick and so I feel as though I'm having an experience of balance.

Now the curious thing is that this is also true of everyone I run into and so I thought it was a worthy topic for consideration and discussion. For me it raises the question, Which one am I? I'll start it off declaring that I'm a 3) (obviously, no?) But that's not as important to me as hearing from you, if you care to share, which one are you?

Yes Fab, exactly! It...

could certainly have been framed as you indicated and how refreshing to encounter such understanding and openess and certainly I could have been more sensitive to social transactional components.

I see you as a 3 as well and enjoy your giving and the humbleness that characterizes it. Thanks for your contribution, for sure.

It's taken me a few days to get round to reading this, but I have no problem with understanding the way you framed the subject.

It could just as easilly been givers, takers, and equitable exchangers.

I am reminded of course of social transaction theory.

I like to think I am bit of a three.

@Graham - alright, so now we have 4!
@John C. - ok, so now we have another scale
@Hugh - thanks
@Richard C. - fine, so now we are up to 5!
@Michael H. - I also see you as a 3, thanks for playing my game
@Kelly - I love what I would call a "let's have fun" attitude in your comments whereever I encounter them
@Licentious - great joke and perhaps that might have been even more fun. My answer to both your questions is, I don't know, but your questions bring up additional questions for me: 1) is value something which is inherent to a thing or is it rather a quality which an individual gives to a thing? 2) is the purpose of anaysis always to change behavior and if so, whose? 3) other than changing behavior, are there other acceptable reasons for posting in this forum?
@Kathleen - thanks for your wit and charm
@Elizabeth - I haven't spent or earned one cent here either but I have bought and offered many ideas here and I have learned a great deal from framing this topic in a commercial context. Many,
if not most responders have taken me literally and that experience can prove useful to me going forward, not only in here, but also in all my communications with others. So, as you see I'm very grateful to everyone who has participated in this discussion as it has indeed served me profoundly.
@Jackie - thanks for your appreciation for having fun and your demonstation of wit - I enjoyed your comment.

I aspire to be good enough with words to earn John's #3 position but only for the fun of it! Eric Idle's long winded sketches where he blathers on incessantly saying inherently nothing are among my favorite Python skits. If I can't be clear, I would at least like to confound in style!

Kelley:
Pulling out my Numerology part haha, I would say you’re a: one, because the beginning of anything is the most wonderful part of the event or a: nine, for its in the time of completion that wisdom is found, and I think most of us here have experience both of these with you, a wonderful beginning and a very wise women
With grace

@Hugh, am I a spammer PR maven or con artist marketeer? :)

(It's a trick question, of course. I'm all four both.) :D

I'm on hypnothoughts because my hypnotherapist and client runs the place. At least, that's why I joined, initially. It was kind of for work.

But then I got to know marvelous people like Kelley and Hugh and Fable and Michael and Richard and the scores of others I'm forgetting, and I was hooked.

I like to think of myself as the "arche-client," so I try to speak on behalf of clients when the hypnotherapist types start doing too much navel-gazing and forget what it's like to be in the comfy chair.

I also try to make people laugh, and share some of what I know. It's an ego boost, frankly, to have people thank me for spouting off about the PR and marketing thingies I love to ramble on about.

Kathleen

p.s. Couldn't agree more. Kelley is a 10. And I mean that in the most heterosexual way possible.

Well, gentleman, this leaves me wondering who would confess to being a 1 on Ron's or a 3 on John's scales?! I might allow Tony to award me a number, using his numerology background! Be gentle.
