is malpractice insurance required to practice hypnotherapy?

Hello all,

I need guidance in the right direction please. Can you tell me where can I get sample forms for the intake of new cases and what other forms I may need?

Is malpractice insurance required to treat clients for different types of ailments? Thank you in advance

I Know you are not in the UK but I have been asked about by visiting hypnotists. In the UK there is NO legal requirements to be insured or licensed or even for that matter certified, qualified or homogenised to 'practice' hypnosis as a therapy.

Any one can put the words hypnotherapist and or psychotherapist and 'prectitioner' of NLP or any other cognitively based aproach.

You can not call yourself a counsellor however.

Back to the other issue: "treating ailments"
Hypntists do not "treat" doctors do. Depending on what state you are in, and more likely than not, when you offer to "treat" an "ailment" you are performing the task of a physician or other licensed medical or psychological professional. This will cause you increased liability issues, and most likely a run-in with the state licensince boards that regulate medical and psychological professionals.
Have you taken a certification class yet, or are you just planning for the future?

You should get such forms from the person who provided your training. One of the hallmarks of quality training, is a trainer who provides such samples. You will need intake forms, informed consent forms, and one would imagine some assessment tools for various clients. So ask the person who did your training/certification program, perhaps you were absent that day.....

It is not malpractice insurance, but rather liability insurance. Doctors have malpractice insurance. Here is a link to liability insurance many hypnotists use: http://ahc.lockton-ins.com/pl
