One of my instructors Matt tells a story of one of his instructors that told him not to copy his moves because he will just be a cheap imitation of him in martial arts. Instead to figure out what he is doing and make it his own. In hypnosis many times we do this, but other times we may fall into the ritual of coping instead of going with the base of its meaningful intuition.
Hypnosis by definition is “ the bypass of the critical factor of the conscious mind and the establishment of acceptable selective thinking.” The deeper meaning of it I feel is, having somebody feel their feelings to the point of bypassing the conscious mind. This may be done purposefully or by accident out of anger, fear, or enjoyment. In my hypnosis I don't do the typical ritual of relaxation but go with the feeling that is already "stuck" in their body.
EFT at it’s ritual part is tapping on acupressure points on the body while saying affirmations. Doing this is suppose to reset the electrical energy of the body, or assist in moving the energy of feelings stuck in the body. I feel that Gary Craig the founder of EFT; was a pioneer as many of us are. He found a way through meaningful intuition of assisting clients in moving feelings and making changes in their energy. Others of us desiring to heal ask how he does it. In teaching there has to be some rules of how to “do it”. We as students follow those rules and if were not attentive it becomes a ritual of copying meaningful intuition without the meaningful intuition behind it.
We forget why we are doing what we are doing. The intention of the purpose many times is what fuels the actual energy of the work. This also goes into the boundaries of prayer and other practices we do. How often do people say a prayer “at God” instead of “to God” . The prayer becomes a thought-less, feeling-less, meaning-less ritual of something to do before we eat. There is no thought of the food before us, or feeling of appreciation for it, or any meaning behind the ritual other then the act of it.
Back to my topic of hypnosis. In “hypnosis” there is a way of working with the subconscious mind. In EFT there is a way of moving feelings/energy. In meditation there is a way of calming and listening to the body and spirit. When we understand the concepts of the tools we use, we are able to create the miracles the founders found of hypnosis / alternative healing and beyond. That may be the reason of “Alternative Healing” . It’s not the ritual of healing modes but the alternative of meaningful intuition of miracles.
