the Free Hypnosis Social Network

Today I had one of my first "clients" - I am seeing a few people for free to build up my experience/build relationships etc.

Today's hypnotherapy client, a lupus patient, was *overwhelmingly* positive about the entire experience and clearly was experiencing the benefit right away.

She didn't understand why I would be positioning this as something people only need to do 1-3 times...she could see people wanting to come back repeatedly - for the relaxation (which really is wonderful) and to focus on different topics as needed/wanted.

Something to think about. I think she might be right. I need to think about how I structure my services to be either a) very goal oriented - work on a specific issue or b) a service that is clearly beneficial but also enjoyable/relaxing...like massage. I also think I might get less price resistance if I offer 30 minute sessions for $50 (perhaps packaged - three session bundles, single sessions costing a bit more, maybe $60?) vs. 60 minute sessions for $100...people may want to come back more often to work with me on different issues, and just for the interactive experience...

I welcome any thoughts on pricing/positioning as I think this all through...

where are you located at first? if you sell them 3 sessions it's easier and most of the clients want to come back knowing it was successful. Do not post set rates on the website let them make a move to call you in order to tell them about your services. I believe you are priced too low depending on your location small towns are different then big cities.
If your too low they feel cheated if you are competitive or higher they feel you must be worth it....just somw thoughts,,,,good luck!

Hi Andrea, I am fairly new also. Have had hypnosis in my life for over 30 years. Finally decided that this is what I want to grow older doing. I opened up my office about 7 months ago. We do Hypnosis,Massage and Reiki. I am the Hypnotherapist. Pricing was very hard to determine. I offer a free 1/2 hour consult for new customers. I do not have 1/2 hour sessions. Most of the sessions I have done go into 45 minutes and I spend 15 minutes talking and determining if they will be returning. I am in South New Hampshire- 40 minutes North of Boston. In the city of Nashua. I charge $75 for an hour session. I discount 10% for a follow up session. I have a smoker of 50 years and am now working with her 3 weeks. She hasn't stopped completely. Went from 2 packs a day to 5 cigarettes a week. I didn't charge her for the 3rd session (it was 2 hours) . She was very happy Having worked with her and making her happy has spread to several other clients. It does take some time with some people. The suggestions have helped her tremendously. I have had to evaluate what is keeping her from stopping completely. She goes into a fantastic level for me each time. She told me several things that made me see she needed further suggestions in fear of letting go of a part of her and also denial of what smoking can do to her. I do need to work with her for a few more weeks and my fees are going to vary with her. I am working with a Mother and 11 year old child with anger issues and the mother has control issues.
She was in for 3 weeks for a 21 day weight program I was running. That was $35 a week. I have set up a package for her as I know that she is coming in for therapy in helping her relationship with her son. He also has ADHD. You can't do one session for all of this. I do teach them a relaxation technique of which they can use without me. Because I finished the Weight with her, I recorded a personalize CD for her to listen to once or twice a month. Keep her on track so to say. I will be seeing them for a while and she is happy paying me $150 every week. I give them lots of insight with their problems. It will end and they will move on in 3-4 weeks.

People do want to come back and do work on different issues and I sure do mention that opportunity to them when we are finished. I have book markers that have an entire list of what hypnosis can help. My website has an entire page. I do post set rates and your welcome to go to the site to see. www.themindandbodycenter.com

Sandy

I have been working with about 6 of my family members with all kinds of things, weight, success in business, relationships, confidence, and dealing with controlling ex husbands. They love coming in for the sessions and to learn more about themselves. Anyone can learn what we know and do it themselves but many people enjoy and are very willing to pay me for my time every month. I don't feel I am taking advantage of them as they ask me to help them with changes they want in their life.
