Memorizing 1000 new words during a day,

I have refreshed my life's record.

Decided to have some fun and learn 1000 new words from German dictionary.

I haven't used memory skills for such purposes for a long time, except of casual usage and memorizing things when necessary. But, because I have moved to Berlin, I thought it could be nice to learn a new language a little bit faster.

So I started.

Deep relaxation and start.

I realised, that things go a little bit slower than a few years ago, I realised that "critical thinking" comes to play with me but I was letting it go.

This is somehow funny. After a few tries few years ago I knew- that 1000 new words is not a limit at all.

I even have this feeling, that I am not even close to my real limitations.

But those inner guys saying "you can't do that" or "you will forget it all" or "that's impossible" have this stupid tendency to come back an take en energy:)

Finally after 4 hours with some breaks I did it. I have check it and about 12 words were "lost" which statistically is not so bad. I was slightly tired but happy to meet my mind again and this feeling like " WOW".

It makes me thinking again and again... that we simply do not know anything about our limitations and possibilities. We simply do not know what we "can" or "can not". We simply delude ourselves with limiting beliefs.

What if we were able to teach people how to boost their mind? What if we were taught that at school many years ago? How many geniuses are currently deluding themselves with some limiting beliefs?

How many people experience difficulties by simply NOT KNOWING what they really can do?

1000 new words... 4 hours.

Where is my limitation?

5000 words? 10000 words a day?

Or maybe 1000 words after one "scan"?

Where is the "end" of possibilities?

How to boost it even more?

How to unlock more "hidden" potential?

How to improve what I already have?

How to do things faster?

There are thousands of questions...

And maybe there is someone... who can throw some suggestions.

Dear Kelley. What do you mean by utilizing circadian rythm circles?
What would you suggest?
Circadian rythm circles are utilized in the SuperMemo software I mentioned.
But how would you use them during any learning process?
Maybe you have a good idea?

Hi Ian,

Are you utilizing your circadian rythm cycles during this multi-hour process?

Das ist sonst super geil man.
Undersanding of languages tends to intensify elasticity of the brain, and thoughts.
and learning should be fun, and not mandatory.
It's what distinguishes the good from the bad teachers: "Having the students enjoy learning!"

It's great to hear that you are making such a progress, in your "new" approach to learning.

Thanks Doc for your input.
Regarding so called retention. Reviewing after 24 hours is mantadory.
But because I do it not only for fun I use a special software called SuperMemo (highly recommended).
"For fun" I mean memorizing lots of items without any desire to keep it in your memory later.
As example- memorizing playing cards as a daily fun. You memorize it, show to others as a stunt and then do not care,.,
But when we are talking about language- then assumption is- that we want to use it in the future.

And the last thought. The only and real problem with doing more is simply becoming tired after few hours of memorizing. There must be a way to avoid it.... welll..... maybe memorizing 10 times faster:)

does your mouth or jaw move slightly when you're doing this? quiet this habit and you will notice that you can do it even faster!

To achieve 1000, set up 20-100% extra as your target, i.e. up to 2000 words as the "intake load" maximum. Review your memory from that list for retention. Now find that it is even easier to attain your minimum daily goal of 1000. On day two, add 1200+ more, but review all 1200-2000 from prior day. The extra words will give you a cushion, such that you feel fantastic about reaching your daily goal. Always give yourself that added cushion, so you can always say positive and rewarding things to yourself. Key is building confidently with consistency. And readjust your daily goals if time ever becomes an issue.
