The wife of the firefighter who led the team that saved my office two and a half years ago has confirmed that the current fire took out the remaining buildings in Alum Creek Center.

So my office is officially gone now, along with my antique love seat, antique lights, desk, ipod, ipod dock, light and sound machine, CDs, client files, wall hangings, custom art, the $300 zero-G massage recliner I got for thirty bucks, the wood-burned plaque of Hypnos-Janus my wife made for my birthday, and worst of all, my books: Kroger, Salter, Yapko, Nongard, Jacquin, the Andreas's, both my McGill encyclopedias, and Cory Hammond's big red book . . . and a bunch of others I can't even recall.

According to reports, fires are closing in on my home. Fortunately, my wife and I were able to evacuate with all our pets.

I can't even volunteer at the shelters, because I can't get to them.

omg James.  I'm so sorry.  What a huge loss.  I can't imagine.  I have friends who've had their homes taken down by fires in Lake Arrowhead.

You are welcome to make copies, borrow, in whatever way I can help, to replace books.  I have so many of them and any cd's that I have that you need to replace.  I could mail them to you one at a time or so and you could copy them.   Would that help?:

"Last night, my wife and I were talking about my hypnosis certificate that burned, and she said that I could probably get another one. That made me realize, once and for all, that I don't need one."

my kitchen was flooded, and all the receipts, invoices, etc to do with accounts and inland revenue, got soaked, and were hard to sort out... I binned the lot, and realised that it was a gift from the universe... I'll just make up the figures (as usual).

that reminds me...

What do the inland revenue, the gas board, a stork and a pelican, all have in common....

Answer...

They can all shove their bills up their arse!

Based on current news, we're going back to our house, but we're keeping the truck packed just in case. We're leaving the rats with a friend in Austin, because their tiny lungs don't need much smoke to be hurt.

Rumors of looting are circulating. You'll know someone tries to hit my house if you see a headline that reads, "Bastrop Hypnotist Employs Pattern-Interrupt, Kills Looters."

However, that quote by Viktor Frankyl, "What is to give light, must endure burning." probably did not inspire Wendell Berry's line: "Don't own so much clutter that you will be relieved to see your house catch fire."

As powerful as the mind can be, we must continually protect ourselves from negative thinking.

Thank you, Leshem.

A lot of people have used a phoenix metaphor, and I appreciate that, but my wife today said that maybe a crucible is a better image. It burns away all that is not needed, so that we can get to the essence.

You are spiritual person James and spiritual people don't need certificate on the wall to prove what they already know they are

Some time we do the "certificate on wall ceremony" only for the clients that feel they need to be treated by certificate healer

But same like you even I like them in my drawer but in my drawer

:-)

Thank you, Roger. I may have to put that quote up in my new office.

James, I am so sorry. I was in an office building destroyed by fire in 1997 and I remember how devastating it was to have had all my writings, research, books, notes from clients and mementos become ash and drop into Puget Sound (the building was on a pier).

A few days later at the gym I found a quote from Victor Frankl torn out of a magazine left on the stair stepper. It reads: "What is to give light, must endure burning." I now have it framed and in my office.

I wish you the best and glad to know that you and your family are safe.
