I am working with a client who has pain due to a missing limb. I have had sessions with him but he states there is "NO" difference in the level or intensity of the pain. Any suggestions on getting better results? He is in his 80's and has all the showings of phantom limb. Any help would be appricated.
Thanks
Wayne

Comment by Brian on January 23, 2012 at 8:18pm i had a woman who fell down the stairs and smashed her tailbone. she couldnt sit and she was always laying on her stomach, so what i did was put her under and had her feel the pain concentrate on it
then i had her feel the pain a different way the more she thought about it and concentrated on it the more the pain went away.
knowing you cant take something away without putting something back i also told her that she would feel something there and have no pain associated with it
just a feeling something was there.
well she had to go to the doctor the next day and have it looked at
she found out it was infected and she had to have the infection drained
to her suprise she still had no pain associated with it and she was fine
so i would suggest
have him feel the pain as he does
and make it stronger in his mind first
then you can tell him that the more he concentrates on it the less he feels
but it feels as though something is there
because as we know, when you make something really big and bigger and bigger it does comedown on its own that i learned from Dr. Richard Bandler
heres the kicker
i do all of this by texting
if you like i can do this for you

Comment by Wayne Walker on January 22, 2012 at 6:04am Yes, Same client. I have done three sessions with him but he states that his pain is the same. He has all the classic symptoms of the phantom limb syndrome. He goes in to hypnosis well. I start the mirror box procedure with him next week.
Comment by Joseph on January 22, 2012 at 2:22am There is a beautiful description on phantom limb sensations and a healing technique in the book "THE BRAIN THAT CHANGES ITSELF " by NORMAN DOIDGE, MD. See chapter 7 titled pain. Almost the entire chapter is dealing with the phantom limb sensations.
An out line of the method is available at wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirror_box and at

Comment by Kelley Woods on January 20, 2012 at 6:34pm I agree, Wayne, consider contacting Dan or Michael Ellner for some guidance in this area. They are two gems which shine illumination on the area of pain control.
Wayne:
Is this the same client you asked about last week?
The statement you post has little to go on in that you don't mention the client's perception of the pain or approaches that you have explored. I am doing a teleclass starting next Wednesday for a total of five Wednesday evenings, titled:Targeting Pain. You may want to check my website for details: www.danclearyhypnosis.com
I don't mean this as an advertisement but if this is the same guy, perhaps you would be more comfortable when you assist these individuals by specialized training.
