Posting by Hugh Cole -- Sugar and Fructose in our diet

I had made a comment to a video that had been previously posted by Hugh Cole thinking it would put the video back on the latest activity listing for others who may have missed it the first go round, but it didn't.

I feel so strongly about what Hugh posted, I decided to put it out there again. The link to the entire video is listed below. The entire video is 1 1/2 hours, but definitely well worth the watch. It definitely opened my eyes.

Here is my comments to Hugh:

Hugh ... I had to look awhile to find this, as I could remember it being posted, but not by whom.

I wanted to thank-you for posting the information on sugar, especially frutose, as the information has opened my eyes, and changed the way I eat.

I have watched the entire video by Dr. Lustig (runs about 1 1/2 hours) several times now. Although it proves difficult to eliminate sugar and fructose from our diet as it seems to be present in all process food, I have cut out sugar from my diet (as best I can)

I did not realize my own addition to sugar until I quit using it in my coffee. I was fine for the first 4 days or so, but after about a couple of weeks, I noticed I was having enormous cravings for sugar. So far, I have not given in. It was if I was going through some type of chemical withdrawl, such as withdrawing from drugs .... OOPS, I guess I was!

I have been repeated asked by family members to share this video with them ... so I thought it was a good idea to reserect it on this site for those who missed it last time.

Your welcome Steve ... I check my food labels more closely now, and cannot believe the amount of frutose put into our food ... it is even in saltines!

I also noticed many of the food producers are either not listing it, or using fuzzy phrases to hide the fact sugar and frutose have been added as an ingrediant.

Since Hugh posted this material awhile back I almost unconsciously adjusted my eating habits and cut back considerably on refined carbs and I have been losing weight without really any effort. It just seems that minus the sugars anything resembling a "craving" is much weaker and very easy to deal with-and I would agree with Walt, its not simply "move more, eat less."

Walt Potter asks: As we learn more about how the body reacts to food, as a drug, do you think that hypnotic weight loss programs will change? Walt

My answer: I have already changed my programs for weight release, focused more on maintaining overall health which includes more fresh fruits, vegetables, and fiber ... especially fiber.

Dennis thank you. An I hope that Hugh continues his series.
As we learn more about how the body reacts to food, as a drug, do you think that hypnotic weight loss programs will change? It's beginning to appear that for some at least, eating from the pyramid is not a good idea.
It's not as simple as "move more, eat less".

I remember my mother struggling to deal with her ulcers. Lost most of her stomach. In the end it was bacteria.

Hi Dennis,

I watched this video after you posted the link on Facebook, thank you! It reinforces the message that Hugh has been sharing with us and Dr. Lustig's adamant words about sugar as poison really hits home. Years ago I "gave up" my affair with sugar as far as candy and treats go, but in recent years have had to become a detective to catch it in other foods.

The good news, Dennis, is that it won't take long at all and you will find a sugar-less life quite easy to maintain! I can seriously look at sugary items without any desire. I believe that my avoidance of processed sugars, combined with my family genetics, a regular exercise regime and use of hypnosis strategies for health have kept me out of the clutches of the medical system!

When working with clients for weight issues, it's not surprising that most of them have sugar addiction. A powerful tool to change the way people look at processed sugars is to educate them on the sneaky ways our government and the food industry have infiltrated them into our food supply. No one likes to be duped, and once a client understands that it's war, they are ready to put on their fighting gloves!

Thanks again for sharing the video, good health to you! Kelley

Dennis,

Great video. Thanks for posting it again. Remember, you can use EFT for your sugar cravings. It also helps to eat a little protein instead. A few almonds work well. Not a lot, 6-7.

I went though that same withdrawal years ago over caffeine. Another VERY effective drug. For awhile I could have easily tacked someone to get their cup of something with caffeine. LOL I wish I'd known self hypnosis and EFT back then.
