@ Michael So many great quotes its hard to pick just one. I read  The Fountainhead was the first book I read of hers and it changed the way I looked at life. But here are a few more quotes I love from here. Feel free to post any other quotes you like. This ca be the Ayn Rand page on HypnoThoughts.

“Why do they always teach us that it's easy and evil to do what we want and that we need discipline to restrain ourselves? It's the hardest thing in the world--to do what we want. And it takes the greatest kind of courage. I mean, what we really want.”

“We can evade reality, but we cannot evade the consequences of evading reality”

"The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities.”

“The purpose of morality is to teach you, not to suffer and die, but to enjoy yourself and live.”

‎"The truth is not for all men, but only for those who seek it.”

Add me to the Ayn Rand fans--

I love many of her quotes and I'm not sure I have a favorite -- This one popped into mind when I was thinking about posting:

"I think, therefore I'll think."

Oops. I meant they were living in Poland. Sorry.

We need an edit option for these posts.

On the anniversary of Ayn Rand's death (1982) I find this quote very awesome, James. My own relative, a great aunt from Finland was married and living happily in Finland when the Bolshevics arrived. One night, they hauled her and her husband, a manager at a railway station, into the street and executed him. German soldiers subsequently secreted her out of the country, back safely to Finland.

Only one who has lived through such ordeal can have the perspective that Ayn did. We can learn through her wisdom.

@Aaron I love the quote : "The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me." and is one of my top five quotes from her.  My number one quote would be :

"We are all brothers under the skin - and I, for one, would be willing to skin humanity to prove it."

Hi Richard & Aaron check out the trailer for Atlas Shrugged. When I first read the book I was 400 pages into it and told a fiend what I was reading. He said so your about to find out were they all went and told me the big secret. I still read the last 200 + pages.

Great quote, anything by Ayn Rand is worth reading, memorizing and acting upon.  :)

Of course, I will vote for Ron Paul, like I did in 1988, 2008 and one day for Rand Paul.  :)
