Wow!
Yesterday I received my long-awaited 100th referral. I was really pleased to have my referral list in treble figures, but also sad because I know just how many more people there are, just counting those locally, who could and would benefit if they were referred to my service.
I figured out a while ago that I would need to get myself to a place where people with IBS would easily find me, and therefore not have to rely on someone else referring them in. My web presence has done that for me... Sadly, most enquiries are from out of area, and I am unable to help them on the NHS.
But still, with all this reform, and with patients finding out about me (and returning to their GP, telling them off for not referring them to me!), my service has expanded, and the results people are achieving continue to astound me.
So, this is for my wonderful, brave and amazing patients:

Thank you, Kelley and Karena! (Kelley- is that Veuve Cliquot or Bolly we're drinking?!).
I am really proud of my patients, and so pleased to be working with such amazing people who seize the opportunities they are given.
My best thing is that this job has proved to me that you don't have to charge money for people to realise the value in what you do.
