and never turn up.Now I am finding some will come along for Alcohol abuse,Cocaine use,Smoking Skunk

I have read a very useful guide by Joseph Tramontana PhD. But its very short on Scripts. Can any of your

readers advise me or share any useful approaches or Scripts to sell or otherwise.

Hi Craig , I probably should have been more clear, when I was referring to no shows. I was talking about the clients who ring and discuss on the phone, book in , then fail to show for first appointment. I do not get many of these just the usual that I believe most busy practitioners get. I agree with you as for people being sent but who really do not want tomake a change.
Peter
My experience to date with clients who do show and have an initial session, always turn up for their follow up appts if needed. I do not tend to offer one hit wonder sessions with addiction clients, keeping in mind that I do not consider smoking an addiction. I use some scripting that I have personally prepared for the client that I am working with at the time, based on the needs of the client . I find the client will supply me with enough information to help them to achieve the goal that they wish to achieve. I also found NLP process's and Tapping Techniques to be useful as well, depending on the client.
Richard , Thank you for the mp3 for alcohol abuse .. I always admire your approach.

best wishes
Christine

Hi Peter
Yes I do agree ......But we are Hypnotherapists ...we use Hypnosis to help these people when they have already tried everything else without any lasting results ...we are normally the last hope for them
So just offering more of the same will not work IMO
I do have good success with people that want to break their addictions ( as opposed to the ones that are sent to me but dont really want to change ).....
I just find the feeling that is driving this addiction ....regress off it ...and clear the connections between the way they feel and the need for the addiction ....replacing the feeling that was driving the addiction with love , confidence and self respect ....it is hard work for both client and therapist ..but it does have a good success rate
I have also read about one therapist that takes the opposite tack with good results ( I have not tried this )
He teaches the client how to recreate the high that they are addicted to hypnotically .....so that when they feel the need for a drink or whatever ...they just do it in the privacy of their own mind instead of using the real thing and harming their body etc .....I am not sure that I like that ...but I can see how it could be of some use.

there are many roads to Rome and no way is perfect by any means ...I think the more tools we have the better our chance of helping these people ......
SOHAIL 87 has some problems as we would be aware ....as the world is just a mirror of how we see ourselves ......one day when they face their reflection in that mirror and do the work they will heal :-)

Hi Craig,
I do agree you have to explore the whole Personality for possible causes to understand the individual
as best as one can. However as you well know Alcohol and drug dependance is never that easy. There
there are multiple aspects to addiction.Hypnotherapy is only one approach,It needs a combination of therapies.
However I find it very unhelpful to find an individual like SOHAIL 87 on a professional network like this.

My Kind Regards,

Peter.

Peter, you may want to search the forums for discussions on this topic (there have been several, I think). Scott Sandland, the founder of HypnoThoughts, is a drug and alcohol recovery expert and is on staff at two rehab centers in southern California. I think he has commented on this before.

I dont like the use of Scripts personally
With These types of problems, just reading a script to them will not normally be enough
There is a lot more that needs to be done in order to help these types of clients .
That includes Gambling as well Christine
You need to get to the cause of the addiction ...treat the cause and they will not need the symptom
this is my personal opinion based on my own practice

Awesome a fake profile offering wrong answers in all caps....
Drug and alcohol clients OFTEN do not show, not because of the therapists personality, but because they are drug addicts. That is the nature of addiction. Almost every type of therapist, coach, psychiatrist, etc. will tell you the same thing, they are the most unreliable of all. Sohail87, create a real profile, or better yet just use your regular account. Stop typing in caps, and learn something about addiction.
