This has been an exciting week.

First, a professional stage hypnotist has offered to mentor me. I'm withholding his name to protect the innocent. :-)

Second, when I was back stage at my music gig this weekend, one of the other musicians asked if my band would come play at the pirate festival he's organizing. I looked at the dates and told him that the rest of my band couldn't make it, so he said, "Well, come play solo. Or better yet, bring your hypnosis show! How much will that cost me?" So without any particular effort on my part, I just booked my first stage hypno gig that involves real money. (Not quite hypnotist money, but at least as good as I would make playing music.) Best of all, it's a twelve-hour drive from my home, so there's no chance of people mixing up my clinical practice with my stage show.

Third, I got home from my travels today to find a message on my machine from a new client who was referred by not one, but two local professionals--a yoga instructor and a medical doctor! (I knew taking that MD to lunch would pay off.)

Add to that an email from a client who successfully overcame her situational stage fright last week, and I'm having a really rockin' Monday!

Your first stage show was great, so I'm sure this one will be equally fabulous. :) Good luck!

Okay, Jackie, you have my vote for most flirtatious!

Or possibly most perceptive . . .

He's a knowledgeable, compassionate, fun, funny, talented, generous, inspirational hypnotist, advisor, entertainer...and all around good guy.

Way to go, James!

Thanks for your kind words, Dave.

In reflecting on this week, I've thought of two other interesting experiences worth commenting on.

First--I had a really bad funk early last week. I had attended a networking meeting for an organization I was quite keen to join, until I saw the price tag. Seriously, if I had the money to join, I wouldn't need their help. That put me in a tailspin of anger and frustration that lasted for about 24 hours; it ended when I broke out my ipod and listened to a hypnosis session (positive visualizations for my business, now that I think about it). The irony is that I knew the whole time I felt bad that I just needed a good session, but I was stubbornly dwelling in anger.

So then as soon as I did what I knew I needed to do, I came out of the funk and so many cool things happened that I've realized I don't need that overpriced networking group anyway!

The second thing I want to add has to do with a my reaction to booking a real stage show gig. The booking was negotiated early Saturday morning, and it was late Saturday night before I really had time to think about it.

Have you ever had one of those moments when your emotional side is panicking and envisioning how terribly something could go, while your rational side is trying in vain to present all the reasons to stay calm and think positively?

Well, when I finally started thinking about the booking, I had the opposite experience. My rational side asked, "What have you gotten yourself into? You've done one hypno show in your life, nearly a year ago, and you haven't practiced or worked on it since then. You just agreed to take real money. There are a million and one things to be worried about here!"

Yet my emotional side kind of yawned and said, "Yeah, whatever. We're calm. It's going to be great, duh!"

I think I'm developing a habit of calm . . . Who is this guy I keep seeing in the mirror? :-)

James, You set a walking example of sending out positive energy and getting positive opportunities in return. Thanks for sharing your experiences! You are poised for success.
