Comment by Stephanie Voss on May 25, 2011 at 10:47am That's a great question..... I gave out some recordings at first and found that more clients found it reminded them of smoking than not. I have a booklet about smoking I put together and find it most useful to send it to them and have them read it BEFORE the first session. I ask them to read it aloud -- to a pet, if necessary, or a photo of someone who cares about them. This increases motivation and, sneakily, makes sure they have it afterwards. So if they choose to refer to it, it's there. If not, no problem.
What do you think about that approach?
