the Free Hypnosis Social Network
The Birth of the International Child and Family Coaching Association.
Due to a recent post by Kelley and a seed of an idea by Michael E , to help facilitate a lack of provision, resources and practitioners. I thought as a community we could create an organisation to help in some of these areas.
I quote Michael’s reply below:
I feel that the most effective way for any type of "helper" working with children is "working" with the family when possible. We have some gifted MF (Ts) in our community Nath, Barry, Richard C and Richard N come to mind and I believe if they develop a international certification training in Marriage and Family-coaching aimed at certified hypnos who want to work in this area - good things would happen. There are not nearly enough MFTs to meet the urgent need in the UK and the US and I believe this would be a cost effective way of helping them help people in need in lieu of therapy when it is not available and as a supplement to therapy when it is... We can easily model other modes of coaching...
M&F Coaches do not diagnose. MFCs do not treat - We help children and families function more effectively. Blah, blah, blah...
I plan to hold a conference in the summer where I want to bring together Practitioners, Teachers, Social workers, Charities, and parents. In the hope of better understanding and knowledge of each areas working practices and skills can be shared and new ways of working together can be forged, created and rolled out. To promote alternative ways of working and to promote, support and encourage the use of hypnosis and hypnotic principles when working with children and families.
We have many skilled, passionate practitioners here at HT and this is an undertaking that needs a community/family approach to come together and make things happen!!!
I need a passionate and like minded group of practitioners who want to or do work with children and families help me set up, organise and run a non profit social enterprise aimed at filling this rather alarming gap in provision!!!
I very much see this as being a part of our existing community here and a part of HT, as an international social enterprise.
I have no structure in place but I do have ideas, and I know I can’t do this on my own, so if you want to help, nominate someone or yourself or give some advice etc then please shout as I’m listening!!!!

Comment by Richard Nongard - NLPBoard.com on February 21, 2012 at 11:17am THE PROBLEM WITH THERAPY, IS that it is therapy.
Many families simply do not know how to function.
Lack of knowledge is far different than psychopathology.
A choaching model makes MUCH more sense for MOST families.
