And so ends another season... This one was particularly challenging. It started with the 50 mile, Ore-2-Shore mountain bike race in Marquette, MI. I experineced excrutiating inner thigh leg cramps, which started just 19 miles into the race. I found my self hypnosis skills put to the test. I was NOT going to walk off this race course! ("Pain is temporary, quitting is forever" - Tyler Hamilton.) I geared down and began to talk to my muscles, telling them to relax. (Who cares what the other riders think of my speaking directly to my legs, outloud?) My legs responded and I continued. The race was hard but I finished; not this year on the podium.

Then began about 8 weeks of physical therapy and more self hypnosis on the bike. Racing in September, in the Peak-2-Peak, Crystal Mountain Resort, MI. I again had conversations with my legs and myself: "Just focus on the course, and you could win this one", "Concentrate, concentrate", "Good job, good job". And I did, First place! Coming in a whole 14 minutes ahead of the field.

I feel my perfomance was mostly due to self hypnosis and the strong positive affirmations. My therapist wanted me to take a break and stay off the bike for a while, but I told him, OUR job was to keep me on the bike and performing to the end of the season, after Iceman in November (also a stronger performance than in years past).
WE did it. Belief and Intention is everything.

Awesome Amelia!
Great to read how my hypno partner is doing so well in racing your bike, skiing in the winter,,

Did you ever do Guided Imagery for your races,, just let go,, and imagine being at the front of the pack,, staying there kind of thing?

If you are not already working with elite athletes,, start today.. I see alot of golfers,, a few goaltenders,, just to let them tell of the stress,, than we can help them eliminate it,, reframe it,, play "In Love" with the game, as so many great athletes have talked about..

Athletes are the best clients I see as they are driven,, so motivated,, so focused,, always do their home assignment,, and they follow up very well,

They deserve your expertise...

We have our first snow yesterday and it stayed all night,, so if we have it,, TC has snow so I'm imagining you are waxing your skii's, getting ready for the slopes.. We booked The Great Wolf Lodge for February 15th school break and than are going to be either at Knubs Knob or Shush Mountain,, Perhaps you can come and ski with us,, we have a group of about 15 of families and kids..

Go Amelia Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You Rock

Have a great day,

Scott

Wow sounds a lot differant than what I have going. This week end I will do the STR (Santa Toy Ride), but I will be on the Passanger seat of Customized Harley Davidson Tricycle dressed up as Santa Claus. It is a lot of fun and we get a police escort for the final 15 mile ride into downtown Dallas, (Pictures to follow), My 10 speed manually propelled bike has seen a few thirty mile treks in it's lifetime, but I leave the triatheles and "Mud runs" to my son. I envy your accomplishment '

Amelia - Way to go! I'm gearing down for the next 3 weeks and then back at it in January preparing for the "Chilly Hilly the end of February and the STP (Seattle to Portland in July). I haven't ruled out the RSVP (Ride Seattle to Vancouver & Party) in August. I'm also eying a couple century rides sprinkled in as well.

I've been doing some fun 2 minute visualizations with a 5:30 AM spin class pretty much doing what you have been doing with your legs - those powerful spinning pistons with feet dancing on the pedals.

Are you marketing yourself to cyclists & triathletes?
