All too often I find hypnotists who lose sight of the thing that is most wonderful about what we do. I became a hypnotist because it was a way to really make the lives of the people I work with better. I can touch someone's life in a way that makes a difference for them, and for those in their life.

That gentleman who was spending nearly $5 a day on cigarettes, while getting slower and slower all the time because he didn't breathe as well as he used to. Now he uses that $5 to do things with his family, saving for a great vacation, going out to dinner, etc. And he has the energy now to throw the ball around with his son, out in the backyard.

The lady whose social life had become next to nil because she didn't like the way she looked. Right away she felt more confident with who she was and is and no longer fears meeting new people. And, having lost over 50 lbs now, she has a social life again. And her husband, who love her even when she didn't love herself, now spends less time cheering her up, and more time enjoying her company because she is so much happier about life... about everything.

The young man who thought he was 'just too stupid to learn' and so had given up on ever going to college, who now attends university because after one session his ADHD was gone and has not been back! Now in his third year of college, getting excellent grades, and plans to eventually get his doctorate in computer science.

The gentleman whose wife divorced him because he has diabetes and it was just 'more responsibility' than she wanted to deal with. He couldn't move on because she left him feeling worthless, and, in his words, "like a diseased piece of wreckage that no one would want". After 5 years of no social life, his work suffering more and more all the time, afraid to even ask any woman out on a date, he asked for my help. Now he is dating, has a job he is proud of, and has an amazing perspective on life.

These are the kinds of people that we make a difference to. And their lives touch so many others. Sure we need to make a living. And sure we need to 'advance our profession', but if we lose sight of what it means to touch the lives of those around us we become smaller. We become less effective.

Just my thoughts...

Jeffrey, this resonates so soundly with me! It is so refreshing to hear someone of your standing speak such truths...I am due to qualify this month, and have to say although I have only discovered about you and your work this week, I am disappointed it took me sooo long.
I will be enroling on your online course as soon as I have made some funds to cover the modest cost.
Thanks Jeffrey for your inspiration x

Beautifully said! Thanks for sharing Jeffrey. I helped an 87 year old gentleman recently who had been in extreme pain. He's now off all pain medication. I can't imagine doing anything else for a living.
