Weather webcams can be a good way to check out the weather of far away friends and family. Webcams can go down because of electricity outages and server overloads so don't panic if a cam is down. Also a person may decide at the last minute it isn't worth keeping a cam up and choose to unplug everything. Traffic cams are really good choices, even my state of Georgia has some pretty good ones. Check the date/times on the cams you are looking at-sometimes people don't update the cam when it is down and youll get a pic from Dec 31st 2007 that will just make you mad when you realize it isn't actually snowing during a hurricane...
If you have time and inclination-please consider checking in on HT and letting everyone know you are ok. I'm a professional worry wort.
I'm 20 miles north of the north Florida border halfway across the state of Georgia. Probably wont get more than maybe the very outer bands of Hurricane Irene if that. Likely get some rain and wind but only enough to make the humidity level about 10,000%. Not even worth stripping the potato chip and beer aisle at Harveys Grocery Store for.
Be safe you East and Northeast coasters,
