I've been saying "DON'T SELL HYPNOSIS!" for years now.

And, in my presentation at the HypnoSummit I will cover how to not sell hypnosis and instead sell "make the headache go away"

ps. Doctors don't get patients by explaining which complicated processes they use or which university they went to. They just tell people (directly or indirectly) that they can "make your headache go away".

Some of us could learn a lot from that.

Agreed, there is absolutely no reason to be broke as a hypnotherapist any more than there is to be broke as a lawyer or doctor.
You've just got to have the same kind of confidence, empathy and communication skill in your marketing that you have adopt in your practice.

I'm really enjoy doing the HypnoSummit events. I am sure you will all enjoy it, I know I look forward to both presenting and learning. I'm excited to see what Steve Andreas will be doing in his session.

And Carol... there is no reason any hypnotists should be broke. As my good friend Mark Cunningham likes to say... "there is no shortage of people who need our help". My advice to you is to devote ALL your free time from this point forward to learning and applying Direct Response Marketing strategies to your business.

Start by going to my website and reading the over 120 articles I've written on marketing for Hypnotists.

Then, scour hypnothoughts for what successful hypnotists are doing that works. (make damn SURE they are actually successful! There are a lot of people on this site who post more than they do hypnosis)

Two really good groups on this site for useful info are:

  1. Internet Marketing for Hypnotists
  2. How to Build a Private Practice

I contribute to both of them, and I run and moderate the Internet Marketing Group.

I also recommend you get an "acountability partner", someone else who is in a similar situation as yourself. Make commitments to each other about when you will have a specific task done such as doing a talk on Hypnosis at the local Rotary or Chamber of Commerce. Then hold each other accountable.

Finally, get yourself a copy of these books, read them, and DO what they say:

  • Think & Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill (all time bestselling business & self help book)
  • The Ultimate Marketing Plan by Dan Kennedy
  • Tested Advertising by John Caples (every successful entrepreneur I know owns this book)
  • Scientific Advertising by Claude Hopkins (can be found free online)
  • Pscyho-Cybernetics by Kennedy & Maltz (used by top athletes and business leaders)
  • Getting Things Done by David Allen (great system for making stuff happen)

The next HypnoSummit will be in the Spring. You should make it your reward for getting your business to the next level. It's plenty of time to make it happen.
