Cosmos - Carl Sagan - gives an explanation of the minds confusion with the 4th Dimension.
What parallels might we deduce about the mysteries of the human mind where it has been shown that merely thinking about the measurements in quantum mechanics changes the expected outcome.

Your Ted Talk with Thad Roberts was great thank you Lisa. Geometry/Maths, if not quantum physics were my favourite subjects at school. I have long realised that we circumvent our understanding wondering what we can see and with questions like how, and why, instead of when?
I find it strange that still we look to the cosmos when we have not explored the ocean depths nor have we significantly explored the human mind nor conclusively proved that it resides other than within our grey matter. I have personally witnessed our brain/body is only an interface twixt here, and the place I loosely call Paradise or as many of us call it "home!" But if you haven't experienced an NDE or some other out of body phenomena then you'll need to take my word for it. Better than this do not take my word for it but rather find the proof for it to back up those of us who have experienced this special portal.
Thanks for sharing Lisa I particularly like your shadow picture.

Comment by Lisa on July 12, 2011 at 9:22pm Hi Keith,
I love this kind of mental exercise. Have you seen information on e8 and Garret Lisi? Big controversy a while back. E8 caught my attention 2-3 years ago. I am a terrible mathematician but was struck by this representation. I see lots of geometric designs-kaleidoscope stuff etc. Symbols, magic and such through history. Pretty and intriguing what they may reveal about the mind. Lots of geometry throughout my life. When I saw the e8 equation representation something felt profound about it. It changed how I felt about my arch nemesis-math. The same feeling I got as a kid when I'd drag myself and my little 4 inch telescope out to sit for hours in the frigid Ohio cold in the dead of winter to just gaze in amazement at the Orion Nebula, the Pleiades, faint fuzzy galaxies.
Perhaps it is nothing-delusion, bias etc. General nerdy weirdness and eccentricity.
It sure feels neat to me. I lack the background, knowledge to really express why it inspires such wonder in me. Of course I can't really explain why all this dimensional stuff, hypercubes, e8 etc transfixes me so. It is all so beautiful.
