That’s a great question Bill and I'm glad you asked me but OMG how to explain? LOL

Web cam instants are just as easy. First you need your subject on Web cam. When you feel you have established rapport and subject seems more relaxed, test for compliance by telling them you need to check right left orientation of their camera. To do this ask them to lift their left hand that being the right one. If the camera is correctly oriented their left hand should mirror your right hand. If you hold your right hand up this will likely encourage them to keep their hand up particularly when you draw theri attention to the fact while they have their left hand up, it is mirrored by your right hand.

If the camera is not correctly oriented that doesn’t matter. But do maintain compliance by telling them if necessary to keep the hand up until you are ready to tell them to drop it.

When you feel the subject is ready you simply tell them to drop their hand. You may make a joke about it or apologise maybe because you forgot it was up. When you tell them to drop the hand be very direct in your tone.

When the hand drops of course we say, "SLEEP" followed by the usual deepeners. I find it pays to say SLEEP more forcefully than usual when doing it remotely by cam. This overcomes the possibility that their volume is set low and may have poor tonal quality, and it will work better if they have a head set.

It may fail because of latency (delay) in operation of Skype or ooVoo or whatever medium you are using. This may cause your screen and theirs or audio to be out of sync, however you should assess this before trying the instant. If the instant doesn't work do not quit just keep going using other methods until the desired result is achieved.

You might alternatively ask the subject to hold their arm aloft, and imagine the arm is relaxed kept aloft by helium balloons on a string until only when you click your fingers the string breaks or is cut. Then say sleep at the appropriate moment. Use your imagination and have fun there are any number of ways this can be done.

Just have confidence in your ability to produce the desired result, and don't worry if it doesn't work every time, if need be pretend that you knew it would fail, because the subject is unusually gifted with intelligence, or artistic ability, mental agility, has astounding cooking skills, or whatever, then go into an alternative induction that is designed particularly for such gifted people.

Perhaps Aino you will be prepared to comment on the effectiveness of on screen instants for us?

Keith - how do you do instants over a web cam?

Thanks for all the comments! And Hugh... it is hypnosis when the suggestions take and you don't need to use the 'cheat' (which is far more often that not if you take care in setting up and prepping the subject).

I used hypnosis Friday last to heal a friend suffering from RLS, and a bad infection in his leg where he has for many years been scratching an itch originally from an insect bite. His leg has scabs all over it yet when I did an instant induction after using Foot Stick to test for compliance, he now has no RLS discomfort, and has no itch.

Yes we have consulted his GP about the RLS and itch. The doctor told him only to watch his diet and stop scratching. I don't think my friend is too concerned whether hypnosis is proven but he did think John Cerbones Red pen was hilarious every time he saw it, although I used only the red top on a clear bic biro.

I also set myself up for referrals because he will be telling his colleagues about the wonderful healing he experienced, and how great he felt when I left him.

The foot stick may seem to some only a magicians parlour trick however it gives you so much opportunity to use standard hypnotic language to prepared the subject for any induction. I used both my first footstick, and my first face to face instant induction that took my subject into trance. I have done instants only on webcam until now.

I noticed a little resistance with the instant but just kept going, however my subject later said that when I tugged his arm he immediately felt incredibly relaxed, he said "I couldn't resist!"

So, a hypnotist named Tripp specializes in sticking people's feet to the floor. Coincidence? Inquiring minds want to know!

I love it, and already feel that the moment I have demonstrated the foot stick, I can immediately use it to make way for further suggestions.

I also imagine it worth considering that further suggestion may also make your back leg now stuck, and just in case we should be prepared, positioned immediately giving support to prevent the off balance subject from falling.

I just tried it on myself could lift neither foot, and was aware our unconscious protecting since on some level it knows we will fall over we cannot lift either foot.

Now everybody standing trying it discover both feet stuck firm now!
