Michael Ellner demonstrates the Ellner/Barsky Emotional Detox

Yes - It really can be that easy--

Newly certified hypnotists and students of the craft might notice how the volunteers follow my suggestion to "sit in your seats" (Rather than take your seat or go to your seat...

Just found that poem in my inbox; it made me think of your experience with the South African students, so I thought I would share. :)

Just very interesting... and I like the "the left behind/is the right thing to do" notion.  I like the left/side right side notion as well as far as that goes.  Thank you for taking time to answer my question.

Hey Taymara,

It is a pleasure to see someone who is thinking and passionate about learning -
"Is the Right to Left intentional?"   Yes, but I don't recommend getting caught up in any model or related technique - My early thinking was the left side spoke to the right brain and I imagined that suggestions aimed at the right brain would be more effective... I have since found the detox is just just as effective if we put the negative emotions into the left hand becuase these are the toxic emotionals and feelings to be left behind and put the positive emotions and feelings into the right hand because it is the right thing to do. Example, "the left behind/is the right thing to do" rationale made more sense to my advanced students in South Africa and as soon as I became aware of how they felt about left/right --  I ran with what worked for them...
I now believe the models/tecniques that we use are empowered by our clients beliefs, expectation and levels of arousal and excitation--
Consider me a resource

@ Kelley

Your post is music to my eyes --
It is widely believed that hypnosis practitioners should not hypnotically assist loved ones and it is heart-warming when hypnos  discover that non-conventional self-hypnotic approaches are easy to utilize with clients and loved ones. Thanks for sharing-- I am looking forward to your continuing to share your experience of your Dad's recovery as he continues to get better and better - Hope is Realistic!

Michael, just have to add that I taught my dad how to use your method to change his feelings of anxiety (nasty side effect of a necessary antibiotic course he's on this week) and last night, my mom reports, he slept like a baby! When we empower our clients and our dads, everyone is happy!

Hello... (and thank you for the friend's add)

I watched this clip and noted you moved the contact from the right shoulder to the left.  Is the Right to Left intentional?  My thought being that moving from the dominate hand to the non-dominate echos the intention without actually saying it.  Is this accurate?

@ Steven,

You wrote: "Michael, your video makes me rethink who I am being when I work with people. The technique is great, but you are so authentic, comfortable and caring that healing seems inevitable!"
I have been repeatedly posting my belief that the "State of the Art" is inside of us and not in the techniques that we have learned or will learn. Thank you for noticing - I appreciate it!
FYI - My advanced students, newly certified hypnos and visitors to this website are encouraged to consider the difference between learning techniques and becoming their ever expanding toolbox... Thanks again!

That was beautiful, Michael. You show how to dynamically create rapport and cooperation with a client.
