Spring Scream Hypnosis Question with Brian David Phillips

Hypnotist Brian David Phillips presents his "Suggestibility Sequence" routine during a comedy hypnosis show at SPRING SCREAM, 4 April 2010 (Kenting, Taiwan). Sometimes folks aren't sure if they are hypnotized or not because they are not prepared for what the experience actually feels like. This fellow popped out of trance during the routine that I was running on the group and naturally assumed he was no longer in hypnosis . . . he was wrong and in such cases I typically run a suggestibility sequence and catalepsy of the type shown here is a good convincer. Notice I keep him on stage so I can watch over him. We did have a bit of a communication breakdown as I told him to relax and his hands remained stuck for a bit as I had to wrestle him a bit to release. Yes, indeed, the language barrier does sometimes rear it's interesting head. Obviously, the language thing was not a huge hurdle as he responded beautifully throughout the show.

This clip is from a performance of the FUNNY HYPNOSIS COMEDY HYPNOSIS SHOW (a special event variant of my regular show for a festival crowd). While most of our shows in Taiwan are presented English with Chinese interpretation, this one was done completely in English to a rowdy crowd. We were scheduled to go on at midnight and due to the festival stage falling behind schedule, we didn't actually get to start our performance until about one-thirtyish and the crowd was a bit more than raucous what with some rather energetic performances and a bit more than a lot of Dinonysian beverages adding to the mix. For the shows I've done at Spring Scream, we invariably have to throw our regular rule books out the window and just jump in. Please note coarse language will be shouted above the din. Folks who say they need absolute quiet to perform hypnosis have obviously never attempted a show at an alternative rock festival, it's sink or swim time when you've got that much energy and that much sound all around you so we chose to dive in and swim full force and see where the tide took us. All in all, despite some hiccups, we had a wonderful time. See http://www.briandavidphillips.com information, mp3s, videos, photos, courses, and more.

You're a pro, Brian! Calm and cool like he's done it every time.

Funny how the guy with the Cannabis leaves on his shirt got up when you made them feel 'high'.
That was probably normal for him!

Nice example of how to handle a situation when in stage. Learn a lot from your videos Brian.

It is always when things don't go as we planned and we have to think on our feet that we grow as hypnotists...nice job Brian
