Street Hypnosis Techniques (Hypnotized Bodybuilder in California)

In this video I hypnotized a bodybuilder while visiting a gym in California. I had hypnotized one of the gyms front desk attendants the day before (after I had finished my workout). When I returned to the gym the next day, I found that many people had been talking about my impromptu hypnotism demonstration. The instant I entered the gym, several people approached me to ask me about hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

As I discussed hypnotism and the induction methods of various hypnotists such as Erickson and Elman, I noticed a bodybuilder standing just a few feet away. He was straining to listen to our conversation. Based on his obvious interest, I immediately offered him the opportunity to be hypnotized, which he accepted eagerly.

So, I got my camera out of my gym bag, and asked one of the bystanders to film my interaction with Joe, the bodybuilder, who I hypnotized by rapid induction, in front of several of the people who had been asking me questions about hypnosis techniques and how to learn hypnosis (you see them at the end of the video standing nearby, clapping).

Near the end of my impromptu hypnosis demonstration, I gave Joe a few helpful hypnotic suggestions about sports performance and (weight lifting, concentration and intensity) before having him fully emerge from the state of hypnosis.

NOTE: The muted sections of the video consist of deep-state patter, which is used to rapidly deepen and intensify relaxation and concentration (These techniques are taught in my hypnosis classes.)_______________________________ __
EXPLANATION OF 4:21 (temporary smile/hesitation)

A lot of people have written to ask about what occurs at 4:21 in the video (where Joe temporarily smiles and hesitates during the handshake re-induction). The following explains this reaction in detail:

What you see at that point in the video is his response to a shock induction. In fact, his response (a moment of disorientation, followed by full compliance--returning to the state of hypnosis) is actually an indicator that he is actually a highly suggestible person (in other words able to be hypnotized deeply).

As you know, a person can move, laugh, smile walk, sing, talk, etcetera while in the state of hypnosis. What you see happen is a good example of how shock or surprise is handled by certain people.

Notice that the moment I say sleep, he immediately falls toward the sofa, he briefly hesitates while smiling, then suddenly he completely relaxes (watch his arm as it suddenly sags across his stomach, relaxed--before I pick it up). This all happens during a state of shock/surprise.

As I continue my patter, he resolves the shock by following my suggestion which I have been supplying to his subconscious while he was in a state of shock (relax, sleep, etcetera)--while his critical factor was distracted.

When using shock inductions, you'll occasionally find people who will shout or scream due to being frightened, and then they will sink into deep relaxation. Some will laugh or smile and then relax. Others will just immediately relax. The reactions vary from person to person.

In Joe's case, the smiling indicated a temporary state of shock/disorientation, which is necessary for this type of induction. In some people, the states of confusion or shock last longer than in others (before it is resolved into hypnosis). Whether a shorter period or longer period, the final result the is same: the client/volunteer enters the state of hypnosis.

In other words, the smiling is not an indication of the depth of hypnosis; it is only an indication of temporary shock/disorientation. What you see at this point in the video is Joe re-entering a deep state of hypnosis by being shocked back into the state.
