my greatest challenge is battling myself.

Afraid I don't know enough.
Afraid I won't help enough.

I'm still in the Kitty Hawk stage of my business (working to get it off the ground), so at the moment, it's the million-and-one business-related things I have to deal with--where to find affordable office space, how to promote the business, how to get my CDs made, how to network, how to approach medical professionals . . . Even if I was absolutely sure of all those things, the sheer number would be daunting.

On the flip side, I feel quite confident about my hypnosis. :-)

To expand on my comment earlier (I think it may be to vague):
I tend to go overboard when I get involved in things. You don't know what you don't know - which drives me to know as much as I can about what I don't know... only to find out that there are more ways and more avenues to travel and that when I think I know something... I find that there is more to learn. On the one hand, that is a great thing... I love to learn.
On the other hand, it can be a road block (for me) because knowing that there is some great information 'out there' that I do not know and I can assume it would make a difference - has me seeking it out to the point of rediculousness. I tend to keep seeking instead of using the knowledge that I have at this point.

On the flip side, I agree with James that the business-related things are daunting. My main concerns in this area are:
1. Does a person really need a business license - and why? I live and work outside my city limits so I am part of the county. I am not sure what a business license helps me with.
2. What should be in every clients folder?
3. What is the best software to use to keep client lists (address & phone, etc.) as well as any emails, word docs. etc. together?

Susan-
This is a great topic for conversation.

I think it would be great if we moved this conversation to the forum so that it gets the long term attention it deserves.

How's that sound?

Hi Susan,
The greatest challenge that I find is how to start the ball rolling. I've actually been finding that pay-per-click works for me along with a few other things but I would like to get more client hours. I've joined the Chamber of Commerce and I've found that to be much more time-consuming than it's worth. It's probably more long range. I'm going to BNI next. I've heard that that's pretty good. I'll be really, really interested in finding out what others say.

I found the yellow pages useless and a waste of money. I don't have enough time and energy to schlep around doing a lot of freebies and trying to guess which ones will work in the end.

One of the most effective things you can do is write articles about what you do. Post them in ezine-aticles or selfgrowth.com. I'm in the process of posting articles there. When you post "self-help" articles, it has substance to it and people will come to the source when they need an obvious expert!

For myself Susan, I am finding that things are happening so fast for myself and my business partner. That it wont be long before our Part-Time business will be turning into a Full-Time business, and that kinda freaks me out. Giving up the security of a full time job to jump into the unknown.
SUSAN FOX Comment by SUSAN FOX on July 4, 2008 at 3:55am
Hi Kenda,

Well, okay, let's listen to this slightly self-sabotaging language pattern. Do you want to pretend that there is only security in being an employee in a full time job where somebody else is calling all the shots? Or, do you want to pretend that there is security when YOU call all the shots in your own business?

Consider the brain to be a storyteller. Using the views from the 4 major brains, imagine the end desired result (feeling completely comfortable as a success in your own full-time hypnosis business where YOU are the boss.) SEE yourself as if you've already achieved that desire. How did you achieve it? By sharing thoughts along the way with others about how to solve their problems. If you are here to show people how to solve their problems, they will consider you a resource and keep returning to you and refer others to you. THAT is how you can start to feel comfortable about this great opportunity.

You go girl! You can do it!

And, if you or anyone else want more help on this, please visit www.yoursecretwishes.com and send me an e-mail for a free article called, 10 Tips For Getting What You Want During Life.

Please let me know how I can help you feel proud to be the awesome hypnotherapist that you already are!
