I was going to post a bunch of books I have read, but Richard has covered most them :) Thanks Richard.

Here are a few others which I feel have some good information.

Answer Cancer: Stephen Parkhill
Trancework: Michael Yapko (really a great book and should be recommended reading)
The Art of Hypnotherapy: Roy Hunter
Hypnotherapy: Dave Elman
The deep trance workbook: Igor Ledochowski
The new encyclopedia of stage hypnosis: Ormond Mcgill
Hypnosis & Hypnotherapy: Gerald Kein & Calvin Banyan
My voice will go with you: M H Erickson

Just a couple of the many books I have enjoyed.

I have quit recommending Ormond McGills book "The Encyclopedia of Stage Hypnosis". Up until a couple months ago it was at the top of my list to recommend. But the material is so dated, and many of the ideas are downright dangerous, and as a result I think it is now a history book, but NOT a book for newcomers...

Of course, this is only my opinion....

I agree with you that the material is dated, but I did some good information out of it. Still I have always been one to read and take what I want and leave the rest. I do have to agree that some of the material is dated as well. I still recommend that people read it and take something from it, but Richard may be right as far as newcomers reading the book. Someone with a little more experience may take more from the book. RIP Ormond Mcgill

That is exactly my perspective. Great book, but NOT for newcomers... Of course it has great material, but i think not a good starting point because a newcomer can't weed out the bad stuff.

i agree that ormond mcgills book is dated but its good to find out what the previous generations were doing, like the way a magician looks at the way the history of magic has evolved to what it is today and take inspiration from that knowledge.
some hypnotists i know say dave elmans hypnotherapy is dated but i think its good as elman was ahead of his time same as milton erickson
