I have a client who wants to remember the exact date when she came to America. It is for immigration and she is very nervous that she will get it wrong. She knows the month and year (1999). Any suggestions on the best way to accomplish this in hypnosis.

Induce hypnosis and deepen. You may want to have her recall some pleasant memories to warm her up for the memory exercise and give her the suggestion that the more she remembers the deeper she relaxes and the more she relaxes the clearer her memory will become. Then take her back imagining a calendar, year 2000. tell her to flip the pages back in her mind, relaxing more and more with every month she goes back, Tell her to keep going back until she gets to the correct month. Nod or signal with ideomotor response when she's there. From that month, do the same thing. starting at the last day of the month go back in time until she gets to the correct day. have her signal you when she's there. If this doesn't work (it should) you can get her close to the date and then have her retrieve actual memories of what she was doing around that time until she gets to the correct day. you need to deepen her fairly well.

Sometimes I use the pendulum for this kind of thing... it's low stress, and you can test it on known dates first.

Since your client knows the month and year she arrived you may wish to visit http://www.timeanddate.com/calendar/ and print out a calendar for that month- however don't tell her beforehand that you did this, it will be for your reference.

While she is in trance set up yes/no ideomotor finger signals, take her back to that day and ask "is it a Monday?" "is it a Tuesday?" and so on. If she responds to a particular day, then using your reference calendar ask along the lines "is it the 7th?" "is it the 14th? and so on since now you can narrow it down to 4 or 5 potential dates as opposed to 28 to 31. Also you may wish to research if there are any significant holidays/events that are observed in her country during that month-"has Independence Day been celebrated yet?" Good luck!
