Does the NGH Approve of any Home study courses for Certification?

Hi everyone,

My sister lives in Louisiana and she won't be able to make my class until June of next year. (i just got my state approval for my hypnosis School in Texas!!! I'll be teaching 5-PATH!!!)

SO....We are looking for an on-line or a home study course she could take that is very reasonably priced and that would be acceptable to the NGH so she could get her certification with them also.

The laws in Louisiana are very lenient for hypnotists and she is a nurse so she should have no problem practicing. She is very interested in using hypnosis in her work.

Also, to all the nurses I wonder what your favorite trainers have been for medical hypnosis and pain. I love Seth Deborah Roth, Melissa J Roth and Ron Eslinger. Who do you like recommend?

THANKS!!!

Celeste

Hi Celeste,

I just got off the phone with Chris at the NGH. He said, "No." There is no correspondence course for that 100 hours they require.

If it helps, Conrad Adams teaches a comprehensive hypnosis class in Louisiana. Look him up, he is a member on here. He may be able to set your sister up.

He doesn't teach 5-Path like you do, but what he teaches is good.

I've heard great stuff about Ron Eslinger's stuff but have never studied it in-depth. I did some of my pain control classes with Melissa and really like her stuff. I recommend her and her work highly.

my 2 cents,

Has she considered taking one of Cal's live-feed-over-computer courses, which would also give her the 5-PATH training? It's also NGH approved. Seems to me that would fit what you're looking for. It might be a bit tricky though, unless she can take some vacation time to cover the days she'd be in "virtual classroom". At least she wouldn't have to travel, and have those extra costs. But it would also get her up and running much more quickly than home study courses.

From my own experience, it takes a great deal of self-discipline to follow-through on self-study courses, and without instructor feedback, one tends to get bogged down. The NGH recognized this, and so for their Clinical Hypnotherapist distance learning course, they also hook you up with an instructor/mentor, and follow a timed lesson plan.

Just a few thoughts....

Hi Sheila,

We certainly have considered Cal's training. She lives out in the sticks with only dial up which would be one problem. The other is she has a daugher and 2 grandkids that live at home and they are noisy and needy. But thanks for the idea.

Hey Celeste,

You know it's a strange thing. I once asked the NGH if Gerald Kein's home study course was acceptable and they told me yes. So i'm not sure if that is still the case, but I know from experience his home study course is worth it.

Oh and congratz on the school Celeste. I remember you mentioned it to me before. When you get a chance send me some info on your school. I might want to come down and see you, oh I meant train with you :)

Btw, I loved the Convention video. I wish I could have been there. One day I will make it and be able to experience all the fun for myself.

Congratulations on your new school! I have a state approved school in Illinois,Mitchell Institute of Professional Hypnosis.Where is your school located?
My understanding is that Calvin Banyan can certify online, but to my knowledge, only Cal is set to do this at this time.I don't know about any correspondence courses.
I will be in your state teaching with Anne King Sept. 27/28 in San Antonio, then I go Oct. 3 to The Woodlands to do a Stage Hypnosis Show at Montgomery College outside of Houston.I would like to know how the approval process went for you ,especially in view of the history in TX. Best Wishes,

Hi,
If I dont' answer or respond I am swamped with clients and family issues, but I wanted to say thank you Willim (Bill?) for responding.

My school is in the Dallas area.

Yes, I know about Cals's online course, my sister only has dial up. So that is out.

The approval process in TExas for a school is very very hard. I was at it for over a year before I got mine and I had the help of my hubby. I would never go thorugh it again.

THANKS again for your responses. NICE websites! Here is a mock up of my new one which will replace my old website soon http://dallashypnosisuptown.com/familyfirst2/

Also the NGH website does not show any Certified instructors in Louisiana, however NGH does offer reciprocity with most certifications. So have her take any certification, then apply for reciprocity, then take every course available to fill in the gaps. NGH training done right, is very good preparation for practice, however it is just the beginning of a long process of continuing education, supervision and practicing hypnotic skills. William
