Hi Folks,

I have a book that I'd like to allow others to download free, and another one that I'd like to sell online. First, I have to get them up there, then I have to figure out how to accept payments, and finally, I have to gizmo the site so that readers can either download the free book or pay for the other book and then download that one. Any recommendations would be most welcome and would, I'm sure, help a lot of other budding capitalists as well.

Many thanks in advance!

Don Gibbons

Have you checked out ClickBank? They can host your ebooks, plus they have a built-in affiliate program through which others can sell your ebook for you.

Don,

I use www.e-junkie.com to sell my e-books. The money goes thru PayPal but they have other options. It's $5/month. They store the e-books and send out a link for the download. It's been great!

Roxanne, Katherine, Lee, and Richard,

My thanks to one and all for the excellent leads you have provided for us newbies who are still in the process of learning how to sell books online.

One trick I happened to stumble upon recently, if you want to make a document available for download at no charge, is to upload it to Google documents. Once it has been uploaded, Google will let you save it as a pdf file, which is probably the best format for downloading. You can't specify that anyone can read it directly from Google documents, but you can click on the "Share" tab and e-mail yourself a link, which you can then cut and paste onto your own blog or Web page so that the whole world can read or download it from there. It works for books too -- and it's free!

Don, I have used e-junkie like some of the other posters here as well and have found it easy to use. It is also a very good resource when giving away an ebook (which I do) because the "downloader" is required to give you a valid email address to get the link to the product-which you can in turn use to build your mailing list for future ventures. Otherwise people can just take your book and you never who they are. Good luck!

Thanks, Jim -- I'll check it out!
