Hi All,
Have been searching through the posts on pain control and self hypnosis but haven’t found a topic that covers what I’m seeking.

All right a little embarrassing background; while playing around with my 15 year old son I made a bad Karate move and tore the Bicep Tendon from the Elbow. Yes, yes, I been told I’m too old for that kind of stuff, lol.

Anyway, so far everything I have found covers removing all pain and feeling, which would be a bad thing in my case. Therapy will start in three weeks so I can get full movement back into my arm. Don’t want to mask all felling to the arm during therapy, as I still need to able to feel the limits the arm can be moved safely. Don’t really want to use pain pills, as they leave me in a clouded state from quite a while. Of course don’t want to look like a wimpy little cry baby either. So is it possible to just control the level of pain or just take a bullet alone to bite on during therapy.

Thanks,
Craig

PS
Hope I posted this correctly.

I have chronic pain from birth defects, arthritis (since 6) and wear and tear. The meds are becoming too much... expensive and making me groggy and I hate it. I would love to find a way to lessen the pain without all the nasty pills... here's hoping...

Hello Craig,

We just had another discussion with Eric Blazynski, here at Hypnothoughs forum, that you may want to check: titled: Pain management advice
I have also written an article, "Hypnosis For Pain Management - Relieve Sciatic Nerves" -
I am sure you will benefit from it to ease your pain.

[Health-and-Fitness:Pain-Management] Back in 1999 I was involved in a car accident that it left me nearly paralyzed, my pain started with sore and muscle aches that gradually followed with sharp pains radiating all the way to my legs. My back pain wasn't just a pain; it was a battle of chronic pain where pain killer and other related drug were not eliminating my agonizing pain at all.

Hi, Craig,

Use a control room technique--while in trance, visualize yourself having a dial that controls your pain level. Test it by turning it up, then turn it down to an acceptable level. There can even be a setting on the dial, marked "Just Enough to Keep Me Safe."

In my experience, clients really hate to turn the dial up, but it's necessary to prove that it works.

Happy trancing,

James

Doreen,
Thanks for the link.

James,
The idea of setting a control dial sounds good, will have to put that in my self Hypnosis tape.

Thanks,
Craig

There is a lot you can do that will give you sensation without suffering.

I teach this to most of my chronic pain clients so they don't do any more damage to whatever is being worked on.
