Can one learn better, faster or easier while using hypnosis?

While in trance, with concentration focused and outside distractions minimized, I have long thought that if someone where hypnotized (either auto or hetero- hypnosis) they could retain and recall vast volumes of information more easily. (Say for example listening to language training cds while hypnotized, they would more easily learn a language and recall it better while conscious). Is this true? Does anyone agree or disagree with this concept?

Walter, short answer . . . yes . . . one can enhance learning in a variety of ways with hypnosis. Long answer . . . http://www.briandavidphillips.com/training/learninghyp.html . . . I have presented a number of academic papers on the subject and have been using several trance processes with university students for years. As far as language learning, that's one of my areas. You might look into some of the work using NLP with spelling and language as well as Lozanov's suggestipedia (a whole subschool of language learning which has begun affecting general language teaching theory).

All the best,
Brian

Brian,

Any plans to release a book or instructional video based on this course?

It's a fascinating subject, and I'll look forward to the replies.

One point though: when you do hypnosis for yourself, it's "auto-hypnosis," not "homo-hypnosis." :-)

I once pursued a research project to see if musicians could enhance pitch recognition by learning while in hypnosis. I lined up a number of volunteers, all amateur or professional musicians. The results were astounding: I found that 8 out of 10 musicians will flake out on a commitment. :-)

(The one guy who stuck with the program did show impressive gains in pitch-recognition, but mostly he was thrilled at how much more calmly he was able to approach his day job after a month of daily hypnosis sessions.)

Hi Walter,

The idea of hypnosis is really to practice the" The Law of Repetition" basically the law of reinforcement, in your case the language.

The time period within which to take the remedial action will be at least 21 days.

The Law of Threes Of Motherhood.
If you have children under the age of 7 everything spoken must be said three times. For example; "Walter put your boots on. Get your boots on. PUT YOUR BOOTS ON NOW!"

Cute, isn't it?

Doreen
