What are you looking for on this site?
I was invited. I will enjoy looking around and the articles and seeing what other people's thoughts are on some subjects of interest. I don't actually have a practice, but there is no box to check that says I learned and practice privately-- NOT professionally.
About Me:
I'm probably one of the few Chaplains and ordained ministers that thinks hypnosis is a TOOL and a gift that we can use to better ourselves and not some "witchcraft" or satanic thought control method of taking over a person's soul. I also do EFT/NLP and ET.
Hobbies:
Don't have time for hobbies any more, but have done various crafts such as woodburning artwork, making jewelry crosses, but now my only hobby is work-- even when helping others.

Any suggestiions?

I have 3 problems with hypnosis--- ME, MYSELF, and I. Seriously, I can work with others, but have problems working with MYSELF. I've tried adding brain entraimnent sounds and that helps effectiveness, but most of my self-hypnosis suggestions have little effect unless I do them several times a day every day, and I don't have that kind of time to work on it. Any suggestions? I know WHAT to do, but it's not effective on ME when I am the one doing it-- either mentally or by recorded CD.

Minor point - Pharmos is Greek, not Hebrew.
Sorry I misunderstood "Some take only prayer and fasting to help"
to mean that they believe only fasting and prayer are acceptable means of seeking help.

May make a recording of want you are working on as if you were with a client, with induction, suggestions and scritps. Repeat ten times before you go to sleep at night what you want to accomplish. Even when I am not working on anything, I say ten times before going to sleep. "God and my subconscious mind removes the symptom by curing the cause." Got that from Orman McGill except I added "God and" to the suggestion. I am retired Army Chaplain, Hospital Hypnotherapist and Hospital Clinical Hypnotherapist. You can visit my website at www.duribinhypnosis.com with over 100 articles on hypnosis and related subjects Have a great day. Paul

You said, "some accept that there is "nothing new under the sun" and "all things are created for Him and by Him" and all are HIS to begin with-- we are just instruments and children learning to be what we are to be."
I also accept that there is "nothing new under the sun" as King Solomon said, and hypnosis is not new - it's just being harnessed in new ways. (Just as the atoms in the atom bombs aren't new, their energy is nothing new... they're just being harnessed differently, using methods of advancement that have been around for millenia.)
I also believe that "all things are created for Him and by Him" - including hypnosis, so let's use it FOR Him.
I also believe that all are HIS to begin with, and in a way we are His instruments and children learning to be what we are to be. (With one caveat: He clearly created us with independent thought and free will - so ULTIMATELY we're His instruments - the wicked by fighting Him until their ultimate destruction, the righteous by serving Him until their ultimate redemption.) So doesn't it make sense to use hypnosis to be a good instrument?
You said, "Some take only prayer and fasting to help."
So if they were poor, they wouldn't try something like a job? An opportunity? They'd only pray and fast?
If they were sick, they wouldn't try a doctor? A medicine? If yes, I ask: Why would a spiritual illness be different? Don't we need to combine faith and action? To find the combination of medicines that fits our soul best? Hypnosis may just be G-d's answer to their prayer and fasts...

How do you drag them out of superstition, when they think you're the superstitious one, and they're the enlightened and saved?
Everyone needs to be surrounded by a security blanket - some need physical walls, some can use friends, some can feel safe in the Spirit of G-d. Those people you refer to need to surround themselves with their own version of psycho-spiritual walls - they think they're created by G-d, though almost always those walls are of their own creation. C'est la vie...

I got blown up and disconnected from the Internet as I was sending you a comment last night. While I see no record of my comment, you responded, so SOMETHING must've gotten to you.
So welcome to this amazing site!
Again, as a clergyman, my opinion: Utilizing the mind, and utilizing negative spiritual forces, are not in the same ballpark. You were put here by G-d to use your body, life, and soul/mind COMPLETELY - in His service. So maximizing your mind's abilities through hypnosis is admirable, not evil. (We'll leave the question of whether you should acquire good behavior through hard work, or if using a shortcut is acceptable, to later discussions.)
Again, welcome!

Hi David,

I am a minister and chaplain, too. I live fairly close...Escondido!

I am another clergy type that sees hypnosis as a tool.

Do keep in touch...
