When I became Interested in hypnosis
It was back in the early 90's in Phoenix when a bunch of us from work (about 8 of us) went to see a stage hypnotist at the Improv. I at that time was very skeptical. The show started and was very funny. During the show and a skit where the volenteers seat would goose them, I noticed that a young lady that was in our group was acting out his scenerio. He said that your seat would goose you and that it would be very uncomfortable that you will sit on the edge of your seat and even look to change it. She would jump up a number of times and even asked the table behind us if she could change seats with them since they had a vacant seat. This amazed me to no end. I was transfixed at watching her instead of paying attention to the show.
A few years went by and I was looking on the internet to find ways to help my wife quit smoking and came across hypnosis many times. I wondered how a person learned hypnosis. I did not know that there was training available at that time. It was kinda mystical and thought maybe it was something passed down from generation to generation.
After that day I started purchasing books on hypnosis. I became amazed at the mystery of the brain. At how everything in this world is so over analyzed but yet the brain or the mind is still a mystery. I must have purchased 30 books before my wife convinced me I should look into training. I purchased a first module of a person's distant learning course and was very discouraged as this first module was more about hisbelief in Buddism then abbout hypnosis. I am in no way putting down Buddism by no means but am only saying I wanted to learn hypnosis which I was not from this module.
After another year or two and a few more books my wife again encouraged me to seek a different class. I found the Omni Hypnosis Center and purchased Gerrald Kein's distant learning basic and advanced course. This was what I wanted and over the next year studied this course. Even though they said to not practice on my spouse I took that as a challenge. If she would be the most difficult I would learn to put her in trance and everyone else would be easy. It worked but I would not suggest anyone go this direction unless you can fail and continue to try as I failed quite a lot. Also since I did not know hypnosis she would offer her ideas of what I was doing wrong.
After I passed that course I then read a book from Both Gerrald Kein and Cal Banyan. This led me in the direction of looking at what Cal was doing and ended up taking his 5 Path course.
I currently have a home office and am working part time seeing clients. I am looking at taking a Stage Hypnosis course this next year and am continueing to learn something each and every day. I look forward to visiting with you all and reading what you have to share.
