What the hell do you say when you get a call from across the Atlantic, from an old friend, telling you that one of your best friends, someone that, although you'd had a falling out years ago, you still owed much of what's happened to you in your life, much of who you are today and much of what you've learned in life - died this morning?
How do you process that information that he was on his way to MarCon, decided to lie down to take a nap and will never get up again?
How do you handle the fact…

Here's part of what they wrote on their MySpace page about my upcoming appearance on their show this coming Wednesday evening:
Welcome Lee Darrow to GhostDivas-LIVE on Wednesday Night at 10pm Central time !
From what I can gather, we're going to be discussing my work as a parapsychological researcher, some of the University-backed ghost hunts I've gone on in the past and why it's important to do such things right, as in with proper scientific equipment, training and a professional magician on…

While not strictly about hypnosis, it does address the idea of being flexible when dealing with clients for entertainment bookings...
Last night, March 1, I performed for a family's celebration of their patriarch's 80th birthday.
When I was initially contacted, it was to do either my hypnosis show or, possibly, my close-up show on a "formal" basis, where the guests would sit around a central table and I would perform, using a couple of people from the group to interact with.
Well, the next da…

Yesterday, December 14, was a busy day for me.
THREE shows in less than 18 hours...
It started out with my leaving the house at about 8:30AM and driving 90 minutes to South Bend, Indiana to perform my Holiday Hypnosis Show for a real estate management and sales company for their holiday party. The drive was fine, the audience was wonderful, the venue was quite nice, but the sound system
almost blew up!
All during the part where I hypnotize the volunteers, t…

Sorry but my time is at a premium these days (much like you I am sure)
I agree with your concerns and attempted to set standards with those educators that bought my Infinity Institute curriculum. Enforcement as you know is a myth. Hypnotherapists are independent contractors and do what they decide to do. This is one reason that while I was a member of the Council of Professionl Hypnotists Organization [as executive director of IMDHA] we attempted to untie hypnosis organizations and set standards. To my sorrow that did not happen. Ego's are huge!
The Guild dropped out of COPHO because of this lack of cooperation from member organizations. It was a dissapointing time in my professional career.
I am and will always be committed to providing excellence in hypnosis education to students as well as to clients.
Thanks for making me your firend. Please be mine and however we get photos up do that as well. That is not something I seem to be able to do.
Anna H. Spencer, PhD
However, there are some instructors out there who have, in the past, moved away from the core curriculum required materials and focused, instead, on things like "partial soul retrieval" and "Channeling the Ascended Masters" in their courses. In my personal and professional opinion, this does not reflect well on our community in the eyes of our licensed colleagues, at all. Nor, frankly, does it do much for our reputation amongst the mainstream of the American public, either.
So, my concern is the seeming - and note I use the word seeming very precisely here - lack of either oversight and disciplinary actions when such things take place. My advocacy in this matter is merely to improve Association-to-instructor relations, oversight and regulation with an eye to improving the overall educational environment for all students as they pass through these programs.
I applaud Infinity Institute's efforts in requiring students to design and perform a "mini-stage hypnosis show" as being a great first step on the way to improving stage shows, overall.
Let's see if this idea can be expanded and spread throughout the field.
After some of the performers I have seen in the last two years - it's sorely needed!

"I really get my knickers in a bunch when I hear about people coming out of a program like the NGH's or the IMDHA's and not even knowing some of the basics when it comes to stage safety”
An FYI Lee - When person's graduate from Infnity Institute International, Inc 120-hour foundational program they will have had the expereince of putting on a mini-stage show. This is done as a way of preparing graduates to go out and give demonstrations of "Action Follows Thought".
In preperation they have seen an excellent "Stage Show" by Thomas J. Fitzgerald that was done at one of the IMDHA conferences when I was the executive director.
All of the persons who purchased the Infinity curriculum are expected to do the same with their students as part of final exam for the Advanced Course as well as administer the written exam.
Hopefully more schools will take heed and prepare their students in similar fashion.
The goal is to teach, enertain, and motivate those who watch the demonstration and that they will realize that they too can take charge of their mental programs through the power of Hypnosis.
Having to design and put on the mini stage show creates confidence and an expectation of I can do this business of hypnosis with individaul cleints and give free talks to civic clubs and show how Hypnosis really works. Some even go on and design a full hour show as a way of attracting clients. Iknow I did and it worked wonders for me.
Best Wishes,
Dr. Anna
